Anyone from the Product or Engineering team care to confirm if this is a bug? To summarize: Suunto’s GPS for open water swimming is significantly less accurate than Garmin, Coros, and Polar. Despite the watch settings being set to Performance mode, the GPS is captured once every 3-4 seconds. Is this a bug?

@isazi wow…strange…I have read somewhere (I believe reddit) that some people applied as personal and it passed. Would really love to have connection to suunto app on my sommet app. Would be cool to at least have a yes or no. On the positive side, support by email answered quickly.

@Manuel-Extreme First of all, I would like to thank you for extending the beta here. I played a little bit with the personalised plan albeit with a very short timeframe as I have a race in four weeks. I liked the Availability input a lot, having similar boundaries is necessary for me and struggled using other automated generation plans that were not taking this into account. The initial setup is a little bit confusing with the Equipment section and possibly in my scenario (no bike) is kind of useless. I have also found a small bug in the data import and added a tester note for this.

Your experience seems to suggest that the issue may not be fully resolved, even with this latest version. Hopefully someone from Suunto will be able to clarify what changed on their side. I’ve contacted the developers. Unfortunately they don’t see much demand for an integration with Suunto, so they put it onto their backlog. I don’t see any change anytime soon.

@Karnal1 yes, that’s the way we generate FIT files, auxilary data added when it exist/change, not constantly. Maybe some interpolation would be better for practical use, but it’s beyond the scope of changes I can afford.

When Garmin acquired Firstbeat in 2020, it did not immediately terminate existing contracts. It allowed them to run their course, but gradually stopped development for competitors and licensing new metrics to third parties. We can expect a very similar scenario. We’ll see, really curious to see how this develops.

Oura integrates directly w Training Peaks and Runalyze and both do a better job of presenting long term trends for sleep, hrv, and HR data than the actual Oura app. After the Runalyze revamp, I think it’s the best out there. Only missing planned workouts.

@Beardkowski Did you revoke permission for suunto in your old strava account? (settings -> my apps)

Perhaps someone can also tell me the “read” and “write” settings for Apple Health. I’ve installed a fitness tracker app that can read workout data from the Apple Watch and save it. This data is then automatically displayed in the Suunto app. That’s really all I want.

@Santi-Diatta had the same issue (error 505 or smth similar), had to create a new account. Using athletedata anyways now.
