      Update: So, a new beta has been released… that’s exactly what I mean… hard to see big changes and not even an explanation of the changes… That’s weak…

      I haven’t noticed any major changes since the last updates. It may be that a lot of programming work is going on in the background to ensure that functions like Zonesense are displayed correctly, but I still have the impression that development is progressing very slowly and not particularly noticeably. There are also no or hardly any new Suunto Sport apps. There is so much potential. In fact, new hardware is coming onto the market. Please don’t get me wrong, I really like Suunto, but I would like to see more innovations and noticeable new functions. Suunto regularly conducts surveys, but really new functions or improvements are slow to arrive. When I think of COROS, for example, everything seems much more customer-oriented and innovative. For example, mirroring the watch data or the track during an activity is brilliantly implemented and shows a spirit of innovation. I know every user has their own preferences; but I still want noticeable further developments… what do you think? Is there a major update coming?

        @Sascha-Domres As evidence of ongoing development, the Suunto app remains available on beta OS versions, so its support and improvements are clearly continuing.

          @Ghost I also have the beta… but honestly I don’t see any obvious changes. I could leave the beta at any time and I wouldn’t miss anything…

              @Sascha-Domres Zonesense is a huge update with far-reaching consequences and much more impactful than mirroring screens to the app. I would love to see some of your suggestions but I think you need to examine the implications of updates that have been implemented recently.

                @Brad_Olwin Hi, I didn’t say that Zonesense doesn’t add value… it’s a cool feature for athletes… But I would also like to see further improvements for the other target groups. After all, Vertical stands for: adventure watch for outdoor expeditions and training with solar charging… So I would like to see improvements in navigation, POI search, live tracking, mirroring the current track on the phone, tides, etc. For example, I would like to simply select a point on the map and say take me there… The track should then be sent directly to the watch without saving it first… Improvements in this regard would be great. Or that I could scroll my pulse at a certain time. The current pulse graph is fixed…

                  If you go back in time, a lot of survey suggestions have fed into the app. I remember a time in the App before Suunto Coach even existed, when turn by turn wasn’t an option (whatever you think of it), maps were only 2D, less detailed, worse contour shading, had no options to edit routes after creation and certainly couldn’t flip direction. There was no summary section to analyse trends longterm, no tags existed, no TSS at all. A lot has changed in the five years or so I’ve been using it for the better.

                  I’m also not sure if some of your requests are watch firmware as opposed to app software. POI search filters exist in the app. Suunto Plus apps may or not be written by the same people who work on the app actively. Yes there are bugs that frustrate, but even in recent times aside from zonesense things like health tracking have been added which bring it to a more all inclusive app.

                  Are there things I’d love to see? Absolutely. But things gently filter through bit by bit with the app I feel, getting better all the time.

                  Also for one of those suggestions, clicking on a point to make a route doesn’t work offline anyway in the app, so at the very least apps being offline routable (which would be amazing) is the first step to that. Since that would be a necessary use case for people. Creating a route from your position and syncing to the watch in activity works fine now, only issue is having internet connection.

                    @Sascha-Domres I totally agree with you , even every single cheaper brand out there let dig into the heart rate graph deeper than Suunto does, knowing detailed info of the actual time instead of a pictured chart. Same for the sleep stages. I think Suunto while focusing on its outdoor strength the most, of course, should upgrade its app on health metrics in a daily basis too.

                      @Sascha-Domres echo this. I feel some of the changes have been either bug fixes or features targeting a ā€œnicheā€ segment of athletes. The adventurous and ā€œI’m in it for the fun and explorationā€- segment (which I believe is a huge group of yours) has been neglected. POIs are pointless in it’s current form (would love to see an ā€œup nextā€ feature or more icon options as an example), why remove the ā€œpause/stopā€ function when in map, where’s point to navigate from the watch, live tracking (security), custom battery options, ability to have more Sunnto+ running (seriously, why only two?), etc.

                        Navigation using the Suunto app is really, pretty good. On Sunday, I compared it directly with Polar (and its’ use of Komoot) and although the route was almost identical, Suunto was very quick and easy. Using Polar it’s really not so simple. Maybe we should create a new thread of real comparisons of features, using practical experience?

                            @The_77 hi,
                            I am aware of the problem of maps that cannot be routed. However, I would have absolutely no problem if this were only done online and via the app. For most applications, this should be completely sufficient. If there are no further developments in this segment, I would miss it very much and would probably choose a different manufacturer at some point. (Coros, Garmin, Apple Watch with some 3rd party app…)
                            As I wrote, I really like Suunto. The quick alignment of the compass or the map in the direction of travel is a unique selling point. Only the AW Ultra can keep up here. However, I have the feeling that the app is being developed far too slowly. If the watch firmware is updated four times a year, I fear that Suunto will soon be overtaken by its competitors. I am also aware that firmware and app updates have to work together…
                            To be honest, as soon as COROS manages to offer better quality and better looking watches, I see them as the most aggressive and agile competitor. I am now hoping for the next firmware for the watch and thus also for a new version of the Suunto app. In addition to stability of old functions, I would like confirmation that I have chosen the right manufacturer for me. You won’t be able to achieve this with new watch faces. It should be clear that these are just the basics.

                              @wakarimasen hi,
                              Interesting, unfortunately I can’t say anything about Polar. But I would be interested to know how quickly the maps align? Does the compass and map alignment work as well as with Suunto? How is it zooming the maps? I find it terrible with Garmin, for example. I find the Grit x 2 pro very appealing. Which one have you tested?

                                So essentially, what’s there is fine, you just don’t wish to save the route to send it across, only to send the point to the watch? I imagine that would require the watch calculating the rerouting, which is only a Garmin feature for years at this point. Would be lovely ofc.

                                Maybe this post should be moved if you’re mostly talking about watch firmware update speed I guess?

                                  @The_77 Regarding moving the post… I’m not sure if it’s due to the development of the app or the firmware or both. I suspect that the software is still in the hands of SportsTracker? Maybe they always have to free up capacity for Suunto first… I don’t know. Some functions may work without adjusting the firmware… so I’d leave the post here… there are already other postings about the frequency of updates to the watches

                                    @ilstrup and unfortunately the number of POIs is still very limited… I have saved a lot of them and was surprised that only a few are displayed… I think a maximum of 15 or so
