    After one month of intensive use I am quite satisfied with the choice I made and I would also like to add that the A3P is second to none in the field ;-P. Even the new HRM chest strap is really good and I love the memory function feature. I forgot to mention that SA and SL4 work very well!

    Wonderful to hear, I still have an A3P sitting on my shelf that occasionally gets used for testing…I am addicted to my S9Peak:)

      @brad_olwin your A3P deserves better usage :). The simplicity and power of this watch make me enjoy every single time I wear it.

        As I stated, I prefer the 9Peak. I can list the reasons, there are many but a couple of the most important

        1. Distance to waypoint and end of route is as drawn, on A3P the distance is direct as a bird flies, not as drawn.
        2. HR zone info on a ring so no need for HR data.
        3. FusedTrack: with long battery life (1 min to 2 min GPS fix) my tracks are virtually indistinguishable from 1 sec fix. Not so with A3P.

          @brad_olwin I didn’t mean to be argumentative 🙂 …
          Anyway I’ve noted that A3P behaves very well in dense woods with plenty of snow on the branches maybe even better than [I do not mean to be argumentative] 😄

            Me either, it is a great watch and the antenna provides fantastic GPS reception. For my uses it had shortcomings that were problematic. Very happy you like it!

              Am tempted for one of these or a Traverse, so that I can have one ‘bike mounted’ watch 😊

                @wakarimasen
                my suggestion, FWIW, is Ambit 3 Peak, way more accurate than Traverse, lasts longer.
                I say this because a friend of mine loaned me a Traverse and I used it extensively for 2 months.
                That said both are well managed by SA and SL4.

                  Are the batteries replaceable? By the way, I just bought one 😉

                    You mean is it user-replaceable, serviceable or filled with compound to be never opened again? It’s made to be serviceable. Though one’s access to tools, testing equipment and spares could make all the difference regarding if it’s also (economically) feasible - it might be cheaper to just get another 2nd hand watch vs sending old one to service center or hunting for spares and buying yourself a pressure tester.

                            @wakarimasen I changed the battery of my Ambit 1 eons ago and honestly I don’t remember the price (still affordable). The thing that struck me the most is that Suunto also changed the bezel (it was terribly damaged) without asking me more.

                              @wakarimasen , https://forum.suunto.com/topic/5816/change-the-battery-ambit-2 might give you an idea of what to expect.

                              For a comparison, currently FB marketplace lists three used Ambit3 watches in 70-80€ range in my area, 2 of those are A3P Saphire HR kits, though no idea about battery condition.

                                  My watch arrived on January 5th, and I reset it, set it up and charged it to 100%. Since then I’ve used it daily for activities of minimum 45 mins duration, and only charged it when configuring activity settings. Now, 10 days later, ‘the battery’ is showing 43%.

                                  I’m not sure it’s really even got a battery… 😊

                                    Got myself a second hand Ambit 3 Peak for very cheap yesterday. Setup with Suuntolink and Suunto App was pretty easy. I am including it in comparisons with the new watches from now on.

                                          @andré-faria at the end of the day is how much data you need and how many activities you do. What I’ve found, I have Ambit 3 Vertical since 2015 and primarily for running. Recently, I got into open water swimming and trail running and A3V does everything I need:
                                          Running:

                                          • Pace;
                                          • Duration;
                                          • HR;
                                          • Ascent;

                                          Swimming;

                                          • Pace;
                                          • Distance;

                                          A month ago my display broke, however, the watch was working perfectly and the battery after the years was working fine. I’ve sent a watch for warranty, during this time I got Garmin Fenix 6 as I have started to look into interval training and all other modern features(not that I was not satisfied with Suunto, although, I wish the app was a bit better, so I could load-interval program into my watch).

                                          In the end, I’ve found Garmin not as comfortable as Ambit 3 and the number of apps, data was not very useful for me on a daily basis (good to know but not making much of a difference). I’ve tracked my sleep and HR during the day, the features I wanted when I got Ambit 3 ages ago, I think wrist HR and the colour display went out next year after I bought A3 and I thought I’ve missed a big time.

                                          I’ve ended up giving Garmin to my partner who really benefits from all of this data and for myself, I am happy with the repair service I’ve received from Suunto and I look forward to wearing the watch for the next 3 to 5 years as a daily driver. I do like Garmin as a modern alternative with all of the maps, route planning, interval training, surfing metrics, Spotify integrations etc and might be using it myself for hiking/tramping.

                                          But really, to progress in sport (generalising), I believe, you only need to track basic metrics and improve them over time and you don’t really need much, just a comfortable pair. I’ve found I got quite bonded with my watch it became very contextual over the years to wear it as I associate having a watch and a strap with running/swimming despite fallouts from the sport for months.

                                          Sorry for the rant haha, I do think it’s a pleasant experience if you liked it on your wrist, I’d recommend it for its comfort, durability and the amount modes/metrics you can have. I work out with mates who got S9P and Fenixes and the data we get is similar so no performance issues there as well.
