@binoworld-uk I think it’s been EOLed. Too bad because I think they were really onto something with it. Maybe they can learn something from the Epix 2 and regroup.

Last feature update was april. We got a security patch in September. I think at this point the best we can hope for are further security patches.

One can always hope that they are quiet because they are rewriting the WearOS app for the Wear 3.0 platform for use on a new watch, but I doubt it at this point.

S7 is still a great watch though. I’ll be using it for a good while yet.

@aleksander-h I agree great watch but I am so hopeful that one day they will add in a Baro/Alt screen. The watch is capable of so many things. It’s frustrating to see other smartwatches like honour and Huwaei that cost half price of Suunto with ABC features and not the S7

@binoworld-uk I have been getting WearOS updates frequently for my S7 until today.
ABC functions are all there, just get the app you like from Google play store.
There is a full thread of recommendations somewhere here in the forum.
I don’t see much that’s actually missing (apart from autopause in Suunto Wear App)

unfortunately nothing comparable to what one would expect from a ABC Suunto watch.

@egika hey, unfortunately every Baro/Alt app out there are poorly built. They don’t have auto switch. Nothing can beat a properly implemented Baro/Alt by Suunto like in the Traverse or Suunto Core.

                    @binoworld-uk Have looked at https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-alti-barometer-app-w-tile-auto-calibration-notifications-and-more.4136449/

This makes full use of the connectivity features of the S7 for auto-calibration. No need to guess alti/baro change from the gradient of pressure like in older watches.

@g-q ok, understood. S7 is a connected watch by concept.
In my point of view it makes no sense to replicate a non-smart Suunto 9 into a Google WearOS watch.

@egika I not agree because some functions can be replicable and developed with the Suunto quality but taking the advantage of Wear OS. I think that tiles for altimeter and other are some basic functions/tools that could be better if Suunto will develop this. Also others that have available on S5P, for example, and not on S7. Maybe I hoped more from S7, but even I still love. Have a Suunto watch that I can’t navigate to a waypoint during an activity is something disappointing. Relegate the develop of some basic functions or apps, that already exist on other models, to 3rd party developers is not election choice. Almost all apps to cover the “several options via Google Play” not cover this function correctly or like a Suunto product. Suunto demostrated than when they develop the last tiles of HR, Sleep, etc, they made the job in the perfect way and I didn’t need it anymore the Google Fit for example.
I still have my fingers crossed waiting for some new FW upgrades 🤞 😁 😰

@egika I installed the app and left it to calibrate the Alti de automatically and guess what it’s 90 Mtrs out! What a joke. It’s down even show Sea level pressure regardless of setting the Altitude. Suunto could easily I lent one new face for Baro/Alti I don’t understand what’s their issue ans lack of development with their developers.

@binoworld-uk ok, I understand it does not work for you. have not used it for a while, because I usually don’t have the need to know my exact altitude out of an activity.
                                What is your use case?

To a certain degree I think it makes a lot of sense. I don’t want to have to switch between watches to get the best of both worlds. I want the same training features as an S5/S9 in a app for a WearOS watch. Yes, one can install any app from the app store, but honestly, none of them are particularly impressive. The Suunto app on S7 is way better than the others I’ve tried, despite missing quite a few features.

This is why I was hoping Suunto would keep working on WearOS. A WearOS maker that actually understands sports tracking meant I had a Android compatible smart watch that did an accurate job of tracking my workouts. A company who’s workout app wasn’t filled with pointless features like tracking how many push ups I can do or pretend to be able to measure my blood pressure.

@aleksander-h I totally agree with you. S7 isn’t an accomplished watch yet to rival Garmin. I find myself searching for that watch that can have a good battery life with proper ABC features. Suunto surely can implement a perfect Baro and altimeter in the S7 with a storm alarm

@binoworld-uk if you want a good baro app, check out Barotrend on the Play Store.

It’s not perfect, but it’s the best I’ve tried. It can be set to a tile or a complication.

@olymay I tried it and it’s very basic.

It’s not smart enough to switch from Baro to Altitude when it needs to. For accurate weather prediction it must have auto switch or at least allow the user to chose which mode to stay in.

@binoworld-uk Yeah, it’s pretty basic, but that’s why I like it. I like to have a simple air pressure trend that I can then interpolate myself (I’m an experienced sailor and have done loads of weather work, so I’m confident with my weather forecasting).

A couple of other apps that might interest you with regards to weather…

MyRadar Weather Radar is highly recommended by others members of this forum. It works well on phone and watch.

I’m UK based and use an app called Rain Today on my phone. It’s only officially available for iPhone (but Android APK is available). It’s only for the phone, but it sends rain notifications to the watch. I LOVE this app and use it all the time.

@olymay hey, same here UK based and I am in to weather forecasting despite not being a sailer 😉

I am an astronomer hence why a good Baro app is instrumental in my predations.

Barotrend app is clean, the only shortcoming like many other apps is that the moment you are moving the graph is no longer accurate for weather forecasting. Unless you are stationary, most ABC watches including Casio Will have issue interpreting solid weather trend. The graph will instantly show huge variation due to altitude not pressure change.

I do hope Suunto can implement a real Alti/Baro with automatic switch
