@dr-suunto go to settings, and pair the sensor. Then it’ll be recognised automatically, if the sensor is active during an activity setup screen.

Thank you for your quick response.
That’s exactly what I’ve done, but the following messages always appear: Change battery or moisten strap. after a few attempts, the process aborts. This can not be the reason because it works with my garmin Forerunner watch and the battery is new.
It is the sensor belt: HRM1G

Any other ideas what it could be?

Are you sure? As this one doesn’t do Bluetooth LE, just ANT+

@dr-suunto did you moisten the strap though? The strap only activates when wet. And it must be active to pair. Try it multiple times, I recall having problems while paaring a strap myself.

@margusl oh, okay, if the strap is only ant+, then it wont work ,of course. Suunto only supports BLE.

You also need to wear the strap so it’s “alive”

@margusl @DMytro @suzzlo Thank you all for your responses. It seems that it was my mistake. The strap only supports ANT+. So I have to buy another one. Which one could you recommend to work well with the Suunto 5 Peak?
                  I like the Polar H9.

@dr-suunto , basically any belt with BTLE will do. With Suunto-branded belt you’d get an option to use on board memory in a way that actually makes sense (after swimming, contact sports or any other activities where connection between watch and belt have been intermittent or you just don’t wear a watch, HR data is atomagically pulled from the sensor), previous variants have had issues with strap quality but as long as you pick the current one, you should be good - something to be aware of when you decide to search for a best possible deal. Though it’s only BT.

Polar is a well tested and solid choice. I’m using H10, but hardly ever use features that are there for H10 yet lacking on H9 (memory and dual channel Bluetooth). I guess I’d still prefer H10 Pro strap over the stock Soft strap on H9.

I think there was a thread with suggestions of HR.
On my side I used for years decathlon one without issues.

Agree, Tickr Fit and Tickr X2 work excellent for me, too The first one is extremely comfortable snd the last one has quite some nice capabilities for a good price, although to fully use them the App is required.

@dr-suunto If you are purchasing a belt, strongly consider the Suunto. The memory feature is more significant than you might think. If you temporarily lose connection between the watch and the belt it will fill those in when the exercise is finished. You can use the belt alone for sports where you may not want to wear the watch in the gym for example. Finally, the sensor on the belt is very small and the only one I can wear for long distance races without having chafing.
