Long time that I’m not coming here …

A proposal of improvement on the ALTIMETER

Whilst I"m currently in holiday and I saw my altimeter at -53 m, I was thinking to the number of operations it needs to reset an altitude and if there are some ways to reduce them to only few clicks or even better.

Many times I realized whilst I was walking in mountain that I forgot to reestablish the correct altidude before I started my journey hence my exercises which I was capturing for havign the course was somehow wrong.

2 proposals here for minimum effort

First of all what about to have 2 more configuration attributes :

      • your HOME altitude
      • Refuge Altitude
The first one is set forever and will never change, the second one you can set it when you arrive to the refuge

      Now, 2 proposals

      1. in the altitude menu you can have a reset feature in which very fast it ask you if you want the HOME or the REFUGE altitude … so within strict minimum of clicks it will reset it, no need to manipulate the meter etc etc
not only you gain some click but you gain also some moves (for example if you do not recall the refuge’s altitude during yoru breakfast you will be obliged to go in front of the door outside to read it again)

      2. Even better and whit absolutely ZERO click
What about if you program an ALARM that it propse you at the time it will wake you up to reset also the altitude to the one of etheir your HOME or the REFUGE, just a check to activate …
the big advantage of this is that not only it is now a ZERO click action but even better … even if you forgot to reset it during your morning breakfast, you watch will have not forgotten … also being tied to the alarm is good in the sense that if it is for waking you up, the probability that the altitude that will set is correct is almost 99.99% …

      Et voila …
Having a computer at your arm … you should take benefit of it …
otherwise … no need of such

        @Mister-PYC
I prefer to rely on FusedAlti, only 🙂 it works very reliable and all you need to do is nothing. Not even adjusting your altitude before an activity 👍

@freeheeler said in ALTIMETER => Reseting suepr very fast the altitude:

          FusedAlti

How to activate FuseAlti on a SUUNTO 9 Baro ?
Are you sure it will maintain the altitude whatever the weather change ?
Are you sure it works in every mountain ? it is based on Satelite ?

An altimeter is becoming wrong as soon as the weather change, so it is very important to calibrate it before any course … up to now my SUUNTO 9 BARO works this way … today for exemple I’m at -53 meter 🙂

@Mister-PYC FusedAlti works automatically if you do not set the altitude manually, it uses GPS to recalibrate your altimeter. If you see such wrong values, maybe your watch needs some cleaning.
