I have just opened my Suunto App in the iPad, with a new version (latest beta) with what it seems nice new functionalities.

Structured training, possible to be created in the App and synced with the watch

      Real time orientation in intervals.

I do not use these features (or not too much), but I guess that it is a big improvement for many people here.

Pics are in Spanish, sorry.7700D71E-304B-428E-B247-5105008D9C79.jpeg CE80CCF9-201E-49FA-B81C-35515E5A7ACF.jpeg

@Efejota yes, this is what some of us, have been waiting for years 🙂
It’s not just intervals, it can be used for planning long activities, for hydration/nutrition, complex intervals…

        Give them a try

Suunto: Race, S9Peak, Spartan Sport Wrist
        Garmin: FR745, Edge 530

@suzzlo is this update for a specific Watch? Or any Suunto can benefit. I have an S7 and I don’t see any new features in my SA

              @BinoWorld-UK I don’t think S7 supports structured workouts.
Supported watches are s5/s5p/S9/s9p (and s3 maybe?).

Spartans and Ambits don’t support that either. So previous generation users are still waiting…

@jsuarez I don’t have any insights, but unfortunately, I think, the wait will be in vain. Spartans are 6+ yo devices, it’s a wonder s9b has gotten this functionallity tbh.

@DMytro Of course it will be in vain, even though you can do that in other brands.

Spartans never had it implemented (completely inexplicable…), so it serves us well for buying the watch (I have/had a SS baro that I gifted to my 8 years old kid -you may guess he does not need structured intervals, unlike me-). However, Ambits did have it and still are out in the cold.

To be honest, I just could never understand how S9 got this and Spartans (most specially Ultra, but also Sport) didn’t. The FW codebase cannot be that different: this feature relates to high level implementation, not low level…

@jsuarez I think s-line might have more powerful hardware. It’s still sad for both spartans and ambits. But it seems suunto has made its choice, after all, watches are quite old. And yeah, removing features that were already present is a bad move, but apparently it was the best thing in the mind of suunto.
Think about this way: suunto didn’t want to aggrevate old customers because it might promt them to change brands, but keeping everyone happy might have been to costly. So, after a long time thinking, they’ve met their decision. I hope it was the best option, but we’ll never know.

@suzzlo it looks very promising 🙂 since when is structured training available?
