SA as a bike computer
-
Anyone using mobile phone+SA instead of a bike computer. I want to have everything in one place and that for me is SuuntoApp, so I am looking for the best solution. I know that Suunto is partnerin with Hammerhead and I am waiting for the Karoo3 to arrive, but as I read on the forum the connection to SA is not as smooth as it should be (correct me if I am wrong).
I know you can pair a HR strap with SA, but what about other sensors like PM?
Any other options that work “out of the box” not through some third party app (still not very happy that there is no connection to Zwift)?

@Ketoohs would be nice if SA would’ve had this functionality. For the moment I use komoot and it works rather well.
-
@DMytro I also use Komoot to track rides and find trails. Can push it to the watch for routes which is nice.
-
Coros just released (still in beta) something similar that replicates the watch fields/map on the app. I really like it and wish Suunto would implement it.

I use Urban biker. Customizable data fields, compatible with all sensors, easy upload on Strava and possibility to navigate.

@Ketoohs I am using Karoo2 for both outdoor and indoor rides and it works great. Use for outdoor rides is obvious. All sensors (HR belt and PM) connected to Karoo. For indor rides, well, I have a smart trainer which is connected to my laptop via BT. Rouvy app is the syncing my rides to TP and to Strava but not to Suunto. For that I have Karoo connected to smart trainer via ANT+ and it syncs my ride to Suunto directly. Great option on Karoo is that you can create different profiles. So I have profile for my indoor rides, another for outdoor rides where I have profiles for my road bike, for my TT bike, for my MTB bike, for commutes, for exploring rides, etc… Well, I just wanted to say, that SA and Karoo connection works pretty well for me. And yes, I know that I can export fit file from Rouvy and import it to SA via Runalyze. I was doing it in this way for years. Now, when my Karoo can do it on my behalf, I am happy…
On the other side, I see your point. Not everyone wants to have another dedicated device and spent money, when there is (or could be) an app for it. So, I hear you, but me personally, I rather keep my phone safe in a bag or pocket, when I am on ride. -
Hi, i started riding with a road bike a few weeks ago. Before that i only ran Trails, road, Cross Country. And i love my Suunto Race for that. So now i use my Suunto race as a bike Computer works fine . I put it on my handelbar to get Speed, time, distance and Maps. But for Maps especially the Display is a Bit little and for the clarity the other Data on a bigger Display would be Nice. I Like to get all data in the Suunto App. So my Options Are a hammerhead karoo (a Bit expensive) the Suunto App ( what Are your experiences with the Suunto App as a bike Computer?, which Sensors can you pair with the App and how much battery drains the App? ) or a cheap bike Computer and Sunnit Race simultaneously? Or do you have other reconmendations?

@Sebastian-Wagner-0 Hi, I was switching from Garmin and have to deal with bike computer because Suunto doesn’t support radar. So I went for Race + Wahoo elmnt roam v2. On bike, I start activity on both, because I sometimes look at Zone sense and want health metric in one place. For data analyze I use intervals.icu which is excellent platform. For free or just small donation.
I think, that now the Roam 2 could be cheaper, because new models was released. -
@Sebastian-Wagner-0 As far as I know SA only supports the HR belt as a sensor - and doesn’t support Zonesense!
