Could having the same email address for both Suunto & Sports Tracker be causing issues? Neither profile is currently working on the app.

For years of using both apps on the same phone, never had an issue. Sports tracker since 2019 and Suunto 2020.

4 days ago, on my Android phone, the Sports Tracker app won’t let me log in with my email, displaying an ‘Oops! Something went wrong’ message. However, I can log in from the web, but my email address in the Sports Tracker web settings is greyed out and cannot be changed. That is strange because its the username that can not be changed, you can change your email according to FAQ.

The Suunto app loads and records data, but I can’t access my profile or linked accounts, and it also displays ‘Oops! Something went wrong.’ when trying to load profile. There is no web version for Suunto, only the app, so no option to test.

I’ve already removed both apps and downgraded to previous versions using APKs, but the same issue persists. I suspect this might be because both apps are owned by the same company and use the same email address.

      Any ideas

@koutayba I have both accounts using the same email address also. I just tested and am not seeing any issues. I am on iOS for my phone but just downloaded the app and had no issues logging in.

do not suspect too much 😉 , it is most likely a backend issue, that will probably be solved quickly.

Did they ever send communication? I never received any email from either Suunto (SO) nor Sports Tracker (ST) informing me that they are now the same App or that they would be merging my accounts because they share the same email address.

At this point, I guess there’s no longer any need for ST since they are the same. However, the big problem is that I don’t know when they merged both apps together. By merging both accounts, the network sees them as one, but all my data on ST from January 2014 to January 2020 is excluded from my SO account data to date.

I’ve had my ST account since 2014, long before I bought the Suunto 9 Baro (SO) watch and started using the SO app in 2020. I use the same email address for both accounts (web) and apps on my phone.

After posting about the issue, I had to install both apps on another device to get them to work, sorta.

To my surprise, I discovered that the SO App and ST App are essentially the same, sharing the exact same backend network. I only realized this when I tried to reset my password for ST, which caused SO to log me out. The SO app then rejected my SO password but accepted the new ST password I had just changed. I tested this three times and confirmed that changing the password in one app automatically updates it in the other, proving they are indeed the same. They even merged my profile icon picture from ST to SO, which explains why options like emails and passwords are all greyed out on the web under ST and cannot be changed.

I’m really frustrated that I never received any notification about this merger. Hopefully, I can find a way to move that data from ST to SO and stop using ST altogether.

Apparently you had old phone with Android 7.0. The issue with this operating system version is now fixed and you should be able to login again.

But this version is no longer officially supported by Suunto and Sports Tracker so we can’t guarantee the issue won’t happen again and recommend using Android 8.0 and newer

@koutayba no issues for me with the same email either.
And the merger or better use of ST as the basis of SA has been announced years ago (and discussed quite ferociously) … and the information can be found in several places
