Suunto Smart sensor smelly belt
-
@Alpha-156.42
Any relation to smelly belt?
This forum is like a very big mess
-
@Mff73 Does it really look that silly or stupid?
In this thread, I just saw users who have the same HR belt model as mine, so I was hoping someone might have experience with changing the battery.
If it came across as stupid, then I apologize. -
@Alpha-156.42
stupid maybe not, and afaics he didn’t say that
off topic for sure
what can happen is that people just skip your message because it’s OT
better search a proper thread or open a new one

@sartoric No worries. I already threw it away, including the watch. Thanks for the advice, and I wish you prosperity and success.

@Tieutieu 3 belts? For ever leg one and one for your body?

-
@Sportsfreund each last around 3 to 4 years, I open a new one every year, and use alternatively the 3 ones. Oldest for cycling. Most recent for races.
I use the strap for every running and cycling activities and some other sports, it’s around 500 hours a year so the have work to do ! -
@Tieutieu now I understand. I had two heart rate monitor straps. Both broke down after just under a year, sending completely erratic heart rate readings. I thought I was just unlucky, but it seems this is a common problem with Suunto. Currently, I’m very happy with a Polar and a Coros strap.
-
@Sportsfreund I’ve been using the Heart Rate Sensor for at least 8 years (regularly a few times a week). I haven’t replaced the sensor yet (except for the battery), the only thing I worry about is changing the strap every year or two, rinsing it with fresh water after each use, and cleaning the strap with baking soda every few months. And that’s it.
-
@Mouse-Cruiser Then I guess I’ve just been unlucky twice so far.
-
@Sportsfreund I made the same experience with the Suunto belts (also 2 belts). I saw those erratic R-R values in Runalyze. It started (for both straps) after a few weeks of using the brand new straps. Since several years I use a cheap CooSpo belt now and I recently replaced the strap for the first time. Still using the same sensor (with replaced batteries of course).
Personally I see no reason to spend a lot of money for HR-belts as long as I don’t need some special use-case like own memory. -
@MarkusG I had the same but with a polar h10 I think belt could be problematic independently of the manufacturer
My h10 drop connection and have lots of artifacts while it’s is less than a year while my suunto works flawlessly (and did not smell at all while the h10 is smelling since beginning) -
this thread is about HR belts smelling funny, not about issues with the data.
