Parallel Use Of Movescount + Suunto app
-
@sartoric , I do. And it kind of works. Something is going on with notifications, I just notice it when phone beeps and I glance at a watch but nothing appears. Sometimes. I think. Maybe some notifications from some apps are just not pushed to the watch. At the moment I just went through steps bellow and also got a notification while SA is still re-syncing all the Moves from Ambit.
Anyway,
I unpair Ambit from phone’s BT devices;
switch off phone’s BT;
start pairing from watch (pair mobile app -> already paired -> replace);
open Movescount, add watch and allow it to enable Bluetooth, pair with PIN and let it sync;
close Movescount task (just closing it from task list seems to be enough);
open SA, it wants to pair with a watch, accept (there’s no pin entry this time)
and it starts syncing all logbook entries.if I want to sync with Movescount, I make sure I close SA from tasks, turn off Bluetooth, open Movescount and let it enable Bluetooth. Usually watch automagically syncs with SA, but I’m not 100% sure if it happens only when Movescount task is closed or put on hold by some Android bat. & resource management thingy.
Android 8 on Galaxy S9 and Suunto app beta.

@margusl
Now it seems to work. My friend didn’t remove SA and unpair before trying the parallel use … despite my reccomandationsDo you have issues in transferring custom routes ?
He can’t see the toggle -

I had my suspicions …

@Dušan-Ković you can import routes into SA, just save the file somewhere either on your phone or the cloud then click to open it and the phone (mine does anyway) will ask what app you want to use and SA should be in the list. It will then open and you can save and sync it to the watch.
This works for me anyway, running an Android phone. Someone on here explained it, I am just repeating it!

HI guys,
i’m new here, and I have a problem,
I started using Suunto app, and have a few exercises there, and now i would like to update them to movescount, I read FAQ, downloaded Suntolink and did all the steps, but when i open my movescount I dont have my exercises there, so is there some other way?
Thanks -
Did you already try to customize sport modes or routes ?
Because after that you cannot sync via cable anymore.Somewhere up here you can find a workaround to use both SA and MC app.
Anyway you should sync to MC first and then to SA. -
@sartoric yes, i customized some modes…can i delete them and try to sync then?

Unfortunately not.
That’s why there is that “warning” message.to revert it you need to reset (not a soft one) the watch

@sartoric
so there is not a way now to get my exercises from suunto app to movescount…
thanks for answers. -

thanks for answers.Maybe using some strange combo with Sport tracker (that I would not suggest) or some other third party like Strava.

At this moment I try to do the same. I synced all my Movescount moves to Strava. Around 30 moves are not present in Movescount, but are in Suunto App (most of them not on the watch anymore).
So I tried to find a way to sync the last moves from Suunto App to Strava. Because I didn’t activated the Strava sync immediately, I now have to move them manually.
I tried exporting it as GPX from Sports-tracker and import it in Strava, but then Strava shows me the wrong times (sometimes more then double) for my running exercises.
Syncing with 3rd party tools gives me the same errors as the manual import/export.So if anyone has some great advice…

I’d use both SA and Movescount only if they used the same backend. As a software developer I know that anything short of that is going to be a mess, and I have very low tolerance for that. Is there any reason why SA can’t talk directly to Movescount backend instead of ST one?
By the way, many responses here show that some users are confused and don’t understand that MC App and MC Web is the same thing as far as data storage is concerned.

Small contribution: I used the Movescount App for a run because the watch (Suunto 9 Baro) crashed and was waiting for a reset, and the Suunto App still doesn’t support the HR chest monitor. The result is I still haven’t found a way for the recorded move, that is on the Movescount app, to be synced with my Movescount account. Tried creating a new move, pair/unpair the watch, even removed the Suunto App to try, didn’t change anything so far: the run has a black background indicating it’s not synced and indeed it is not… Any idea? Would really appreciate to have that move synced.

Hello, I’m new, I walk from topic to topic for find informations and it gives me warm heart to see a beautiful community.
I use both applications as well. I wanted to send my new routes created with MC (thanks to the import) in my Suunto 9B. Only, i have to reset the watch because it was connected with SA.
Bug synthesis: My watch no longer displays the data “sunrise” and “sunset”. Neither the sun curve

@AnthonyB hey if the watch does not show these times, just get a GPS fix and it will

@AnthonyB and welcome to the community

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos hi i had several crashes of the watch ( the download symbol appeared on the watch face out of nowhere and i had todo 3 sec restart). This stopped when I removed the mc app. I would love to download the moves to mc via cable but never managed that. Basically I kept forgetting the right order and then could not find a way to resync to mc web after the sync to SA happened. Do you have a trick for that that does not involve resetting all the heart zones and personal settings on the watch?

@silentvoyager well I guess that the silent hope is that mc stays only on the web and downloads data from SA exactly like strava runalize etc etc…

That would be better than nothing, but still far from ideal. Creating complex input on a large screen is far more convenient and productive than doing that on a tiny phone screen using touch input. That would include anything that needs to be updated back to watch - screen customization, training plans (when that becomes available), complex workout, routes, etc.
I understand is that Suunto’s direction is to replace the web platform with a web service (API) so that any 3rd party service could do things described above in addition to just consuming the exercise data. In theory Movescount could do that too just like any other 3rd party tool. The real question is whether the API will be rich enough for all of that. If you look at Strava API as an example you’ll see what you can do through the API is very limited subset of what you could do on the website and is pretty much reduced to read-only functions for retrieving info.
