Did you try to teach it how you swimm i suppose it is available in S9 as it is in Ambit 3.

I had the same problem my breast was recognized as freestyle and “teached it” for both style swimming one length in the pool after that both styles were recognized correctly.
Unfortunatly i added some butterfly to my swimms which was recognized as free most of the time and “teached” my Ambit again, now Buttergly and Free are ok and again some of breastroke is recognized as freestyle.

I suppose It is posible to be caused due to change of my breaststroke technique, in my last sessions i`m having a wider catch with my arms.

I don’t find any options for teaching the watch…
For intervals I noticed that if I stay for several second /not sure exactly how many/ the interval is automatically done.

One more question: how long I should wait before ending the exercise so I can be sure that the last pool length will be counted? Second swim training I finish with 1975m, not 2000m. /Fortunately after the sync with Strava I see there 1999m, but it is again not 2000m/.

Just checked Suunto website seems that “Teaching swim style” is not available in Suunto 9.
With my Ambit 3 waiting 3 to-5 seconds is enough for watch to detect end of interval.

Sorry to reply on a very old topic but i’m surprised that it still doesn’t seem to work.
Just got a 9 peak and after a swim with a mix of freestyle and breaststroke, the app only recognized freestyle for the all swim !

Any plan on improving this or any solution available out there ?

@nicauj - noticed the same issue with the S7, however it had no issues with backstroke, it was just the breaststroke.

The Garmin F6 has no issues with any of the strokes as long as you don’t mix it within the lap. The only issue I have is that on the connect app if you mix styles within a set of laps it shows it as mixed, and unlike the Suunto app you cannot explode the detail out (which is super weird as you can with running etc). So if you want to see stroke detail you have to go to the website to see it.

                        Hi.
It happens with the Ocean: only recognizes the freestyle strokes, which is a pitty and ruins the training session.
