@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos we weren’t informed ’ 2 weeks’ ago about the cessation of service. I received a mail on the 15th Jan, 6 weeks ago. It would be nice to receive another mail from Suunto saying ‘because of customer feedback we…etc.etc’
      but nothing.

So you would suggest Suunto to follow up with no content to share?

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I think he meant 6 weeks is enough time to make a principled decision, but I’m not him.

Let me tell you something. It took me 4 weeks to collect every little word that was said here, from proposals (opensource Movescount). I am not including Support contacts or other groups/forums.

This is not an easy task if it needs to be properly. But well I guess you expect me to say:

“You are right 6 weeks is enough time”

I could just have go on and just say: Yeah users are “angry/displeased”.

But I dont do small work. I dont work for the bakery next door.

You wanted to be heard. You put effort. Take a look on how many threads discussions and ideas spawned here. I could go on and lock the thread stating that the feedback is enough and pass the ball to Suunto.
              I didn’t;
I read carefully everything that was said here. I created multiple reports. I VALUED some superb feedback and proposals here (Open source MC, connect offline sw). I met great minds and I wanted to make sure it’s all 100% on paper.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I personally think you are doing an awesome job, and also I had good experience with suunto customer service. But I think they shouldn’t sell ambits on their site after the announcement.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I was not expecting a full detailed response, with a fully detailed software… but just a principle response, saying they had heard us and
Either that they will try to do everything they can to take our concern into account
Or that they would carry as announced and that we could go elsewhere if we didn’t like it.
                  I don’t know, something… anything…

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I think you are doing a brilliant job under very difficult circumstances and by no means was this a ‘dig’ at you.
The thing that concerns me is that this whole debacle is going to weaken the Suunto brand with people going elsewhere for their premium sport watch products and in a few years time there will be no Suunto to set the benchmark.
I’ve never got involved with ‘social media’ or ‘forums’ before so you can guess how strongly I feel about this, together with a few other new ‘members’ I guess.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I certainly appreciate your input into this process and at least providing extra avenues to Suunto CS.

@Navigator I also see your point and agree that it would be nice for Suunto to do/say something. However, it does take time to figure out what they can do and by when. If I was in their shoes, the one thing I would want to avoid now is broken promises, so care is needed. If you want a “we have heard your concern and are trying to work to produce an outcome that satisfies all our users” type response, then you can get that easily by submitting a question to customer services. If you want more, then we can hope for a road-map, but as mentioned Suunto need to be sure they can deliver that road-map. It is not a easy situation to get right.

@Navigator you and one other user said this.

                          I completely understand you.

Also I would like to add that I do like and prefer anonymity on the responses that perhaps the forum offers, rather than social media were someone might not be able to take his “anger” out.

" You can use any service to get a GPX file sent directly to the Suunto app."

I have the suunto 9 baro and can see no way of uploading an external gpx file to use as a route for navigating with the watch? Please explain how to do this, there is no help given in the user manual.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos That’s fine if you live in an area where a phone works. I don’t have a smartphone. it would be as useful to me as a tricycle to a whale. I’m not getting at you personally but it would seem that the Suunto product I just bought from the Suunto webshop will not have it’s full advertised feature set for the whole of it’s warranty period. I wasn’t made aware of this at the time of purchase!

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I also appreciate your efforts on this. I think what most of us are looking for in the short term (ideally about 3 weeks ago!) is a statement from Suunto saying “We’ve made a mistake, we won’t shut down movescount until there is a solution for Ambit1, 2 and 3 owners to be able to use their devices to at least the same extent as they can now.” Then, as far as I’m concerned, Suunto can take as long as they like to figure out the details as to how a new platform will fully support the Ambits. I can understand why Suunto will take a long time to put together a detailed plan; but I can’t understand why it takes so long to make a simple statement saying; “we’ve heard you, we’re not going to limit the functionality of your watches in 2020 - a detailed plan will follow in due course”…

The fact that Suunto haven’t done this is making me, and I suspect other Ambit owners, increasingly concerned that Suunto haven’t heard us and haven’t even decided in principle to fully support Ambits beyond 2020.

I for one will not be buying another Suunto or having the battery in my 4 year old Ambit3 replaced until there is at least a guarantee I will still have full functionality in 2020 and beyond (albeit I don’t care too much how that functionality is provided…)

@amasidlover Perhaps they want to come with this answer of declaring a mistake but it takes time to assure you or to follow up with what changes and what are the new plans.

As a customer of Suunto, I would give trust to them, until they take it away. And still they haven’t. I dont think they want to cripple all their awesome devices.

One thing I personally learned from all this, is that Suunto has some great HW and some really good customers. I think it’s like shooting your own foot if you let those down. And they are well aware of that.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos if Suunto is listening here is my feedback: Among other things, I really like the planning calendar in Movescount. I am following a training plan and highly value having my day’s workout sync to my watch. I’m concerned with the news that Suunto is going to phase out the Movescount web-based platform and not replace it with another. Will the phone-based Suunto app replace these functions? Working on phone platform is tedious, web is so much better. Big bummer if there is not a web-based platform, and training calendar. I love my Suunto Ambit3 Peak, and am considering the Suunto 9 Baro, but will wait until all this uncertainty is cleared up. If there is no web-based platform and the Ambit3 Peak is not fully supported I will have to go back to Garmin, sadly.

Sorry, I’ve picked this up late.

So I’ll have to think long and hard before buying another Suunto watch without having a website sat behind the app. The reason I haven’t moved from Movescount to the Suunto App is for that very reason. It’s a must have!

First, i’m sorry about my english, i am a french user.

I heard that closing the service Movescount will be a big injures for ambit1, 2, 3 users.
I bought my ambit3peak there is one year (more than 300€ !) and so, 2020 i can changed it.
I don’t understand the purpose of these kinds of decisions.
In the year, my girl friend bought an ambit2, i bought one ambit1 for my brother and one for my sister’s husband.

Also, Suunto will be only on smartphone ? is it a joke ?
i loved import gpx files in my clock. Really dissapointed

If nothing is make for us, sure, i will never buy another suunto’s products.
