@Yann-alexandre-SOWKA The latest version of Android (beta) app removes the dedicated steps, calories, etc views as well as goal circles from the main page. These are all applicable to other Suunto devices that have activity tracking natively. Currently Suunto 7 relies on Google Fit for activity tracking, so these view would remain blank for new users.

Check out a discussion here I had with @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos:

@Yann-alexandre-SOWKA currently unfortunately it’s not natively possible.

Meaning that this needs some other app to be done and look at.

I understand that many people want this natively and I am collecting the feedback here

            Wow ^^
            I’m a bit disconcerted!
Just every smartband, fitwatch, smartwach or sportwatch on the market are doing it.
I just bought an expensive watch which is supposed to merge the Smart and Sport side of this market, a watch which use also Google Fit, AND i need to use another third-party app to collect my sleep tracking (and personal data, google is not enough apparently)
Nice move…i will wait a bit before selling my Ionic.

              @NickK
              Thank you for the info!
So it means that i will need to use at least 2 apps. SA for the main activities and Google Fit for the fit tracking.
And if i use a third-part app on the watch for the sleep tracking, a third app to have an eye on this…

@Yann-alexandre-SOWKA A third party app will write to Google Fit, but yes… Two apps for now. Three if you are really interested in that detailed sleep breakup. Suunto’s working on adding native activity tracking on Suunto 7 AFAIK, to match its existing line of devices, but if and when it comes, it’s still not gonna match what you get from Fitbit. These are two different companies, with different consumer focus.

@Yann-alexandre-SOWKA the Apple Watch doesn’t do it natively. It requires an app of third parties.

I would like the s7 would have native sleep tracking, specially in sport watches is a good feedback.

@NickK if they are collecting feedback like @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos was saying and working on it to improve the client satisfaction it is ok.
I’m just a bit disconcerted because it is a feature I’m getting accustomed to, and i think it is something common now in this market, and many companies provide it natively (doesn’t know that iWatches use 3rdPart app for this)

@Yann-alexandre-SOWKA If you need steps and calories and sleep tracking, all with nice charts, in the same app, please return your Suunto 7 and continue to use Ionic.

Go with Suunto 7 if you need a real smartwatch, with a real ecosystem of apps, backed by a company like Google and truckload of developers

Go with Suunto 7 if you need a robust, real world tested hardware, with multiple buttons, big bright screen, enough waterproofing to dive scuba (I didn’t say that!), and an array of sensors – from GPS to OHR to barometer – that would make many dedicated sports watches envious.

Go with Suunto 7 if you are into sports, want to track your workouts with accuracy that far exceeds what you can get on Fitbit or similar devices, and once done, you want to share your activities to Strava, Training Peaks, and other services

@NickK easy man, i don’t think i was rough in my posts previously but if yes, i apologise.
And i understand all the points you are listing there, this is why i left my Ionic. Because i needed something thougher and more focused on sports than fitness.
If i’m posting here today, it is because the UX is absolutely not OK.
It is my first days with the S7 and when i go the the SA, i see a tab where i can see metrics like steps, cal and sleep.
This tab still empty after 3 days of use, so naturally you think there is a problem somewhere, so you spend time to find out, you try to reinstall and reboot everything.
And then, you understand that the tab will remain, forever, empty because you have to use another app for it. And maybe a third one.

I’m sorry, but for the price of the device, and with a serious name like Suunto written on it, does “all with nice charts, in the same app” something impossible to have, or too hard to ask? I’m not talking about sensors and hardware, but about user experience

We removed the tabs for steps etc in the last update to remove this confusion. I am sorry for this

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Thanks again Folks for your answers.
I understand better how the Suunto app should work now (didn’t get the new release in my area yet)
I hope that integration of 24×7 activity metrics into the Suunto app will be under consideration for the S7.
                            😉
                            Enjoy your weekend guys!

With regard to sleep tracking, which apps are you using? I see “Sleep as Android” mentioned often (also on this thread) but if I go to Play it says it’s incompatible with the S7 😕

@isazi I use Tic Sleep (Mobvoi), sideloaded from a Ticwatch. 😅

Well, it looks that I needed to install the app on my phone first. I know nothing of Wear OS apparently 😄

@josvi-palanques-bayarri I extracted all Mobvoi apps from a Ticwatch Pro GPS and installed the apps via adb on the Suunto 7. I remember that there were two apps I had to recompile before installing to S7, because there are some deactivated Mobvoi apps on the S7 by default and there were conflicts.

But TicSleep was not the app I decided to use longer. It was just a try.

For sleep tracking I am using a Skagen Falster 3, slim and comfortable during the night.

Hi! I want sleep tracking, too.
I would use a 3rd party app, even at extra costs.
But I won’t use an app that requires my watch to use any form of connectivity while I am sleeping (no WiFi, no BT - watch must be in airplane mode) or a phone next to my bed (as does Sleep as Android).

                                        Regards

@yalex57 i fully agree with you. I would expect more from Suunto and it frustrates me. It is an expensive watch, but my Samsung Galaxy is far better and it I wish Suunto will take our comments seriously by planning good roadmap and keep us informed about new releases.
