Does the Trainer WHR offer power intensity zones when paired with Stryd?

@sascha can you set zones (heart rate, pace, power) on the watch?

@sascha Yes, pair Stryd, then go to intensity zones setup to configure them. If you don’t see power zones under running, you may need to pair Stryd again as power pod (early days hack). Last but not least, you can get to zones configuration form activity start screen > options > intensity targets. You’ll be able to either select a zone or configure them all there.

@NickK Thanks for your reply! What about this one? https://the5krunner.com/2019/01/16/stryd-review-2019/#comment-59494

@sascha Can’t say what happened to him. I’m using Suunto 9 Baro, and running power intensity target works like a charm there. But then S9B is on 2.10.x firmware. I remember there were some issues with targets mid-last year, but that had been fixed.

@NickK He’s using the latest v2.8.32, I don’t see anything newer. On reddit I read others have the same issue with the trainer for the past 12 months.

@sascha And I’m using Suunto 9 Baro, 😏 so can’t speak to what appears to be a Spartan specific issue.

@NickK True, I should have put that into the topic. My question was supposed to be Trainer specific. 😉

@sascha Well, the answer I gave you is clearly applicable. I know power zones used to work just fine on Spartan, which was one of the motivations for me to upgrade to Suunto 9. But I have no idea if any of the recent firmware updates broke anything. You could try downgrading. Search the forums: there are descriptions to how flash the watch with older firmware and where to get the image.

@NickK I don’t own it, that’s why I’m asking. Otherwise I would verify it myself. I was interested in buying one but I guess it’s not worth it anymore, I’m not so confident in Suunto fixing it with a future firmware.

@sascha I own a Spartan Trainer WHR and I use it with Stryd.
There is the latest firmware. and it works perfect!
You can use and configure Power Zones as described above.
If you run to fast or to slow the watch beeps and vibrates.
Im running with stryd and the Sswhr for more than a half year…
