    Hi

Sorry if this has already has been discussed, but I didn´t manage to find an exact answer to this:

I tested “Endurance Mode” on my Suunto 9B today for the first time this weekend. Did a 7 km bike round trip, but the track ended up very inaccurate, especially in the middle part of the trip (see attached screenshot from the Suunto App). Looks like the first 25% of the trip is tracked pretty accurate, then the problem starts.
    Screenshot_Suunto App.jpg Any explanation?

I read that Endurance Mode is supposed to be almost as accurate as Performance Mode, but after my first try that seems not to be the case for my watch…

    Thanks

Well the mode you selected records less GPS points, and because you are biking it cannot rely on the accelerometer either.

@LarsSto it should be but it’s for running.

When biking there are not internal “sensors” working for doing the fused track magic.

Give it a try with running

Thanks for your replies @isazi and @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos .

Could you please help me understand why there is a difference between different sports?

What about hiking, ski moutaineering, cross country skiing (the other sports I usually do)? Which Sport modes support this “fused track magic” and which does not?

And do you have an explanation for the difference in the start of the tracking (pretty accurate) versus the end (very inaccurate)…?

@LarsSto all running / walking modes I think.

That is because it’s designed for the arm movement for those sports.

Arguably for biking if you need > 24h battery life you could use a battery charger.

In general terms, personal advice, is that those modes should be used when:

            a) You have a big run/bike ahead of you and bettery wont last.
            b) You are already on low battery (forgot to charge eg)

              @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos ok, thanks.

So a work-around of tracking a long bike trip as running, will not help to get a more accurate track in Endurance Mode?

@LarsSto correct. For cylcing imo dont use those endurance modes.
