Since the last update, the suunto app on the watch no longer goes to the minimal border view when my wrist is turned away from viewing, that is, it always shows the timer/heart rate/distance stats. Is this expected?

@Gareth-Stockdale check the release notes: https://www.suunto.com/Support/Software-updates/Release-notes/suunto-7-software-updates/

nothing is broken, it’s a new way of actually view the data fields you configured without having o wait after turning the wrist.
For paddling this in essential as I was never able to get a glance of the data before the next paddle stroke with the old firmware.

@Gareth-Stockdale it also matches what most fitness watches do, so a very welcome change with no impact to battery life.

Note, you will notice that when in lower power mode, the heart rate bands and all the numbers are narrower, to when the screen is awake and in power mode.
