      Hi everyone,

is it correct that navigation in connection with interval training is not possible? As soon as I have activated the interval, the navigation is not displayed when I change the display. If this is deactivated, it appears again. Is there a trick to combine the two?

      Many greetings

@live_the_wonder_of_nature The two are not compatible and either one or the other can be used. It seems somewhat logical that when performing an interval one does not need navigation.

But it is not that logical. 😉

For example last month when I was doing a long run on a new trail I did walk/run intervals to extend the duration and it could have been more convenient if both could have been used at the same time.

You could simply set a duration or distance timer, that would work as well.

@peringmar sorry, all feature suggestions surrounding increased utility of the watch during exercise will be ignored. In their place, please accept useless Suunto + additions.

@zrumlow You were a bit harsh here. 🙂 Imagine Suunto developed every user suggestion, if you ask me, it would be a mess and users were still complaining.
As for interval and navigation, how you can perform a quality interval session if you don’t know the course?

The Ambit3 is capable of doing this and is available very cheaply second hand now - admittedly its a bit of a niche capability, but I have done it a handful of times; I generally plan for the navigation cues to be during the recoveries…

@andrasveres I agree, Suunto cannot possibly develop every watch suggestion, but if you scroll through this forum (which I understand is not meant for watch suggestions) or I would wager that if you had survey data from Suunto you would find many instances of the company not developing popular suggested features.

In fact, I dare anyone to provide an example of an added feature other than Suunto + and GPS and battery bug fixes (as the first is still incredibly niche and really doesn’t work for that many exercises, and the last two are sine qua non for any watch company) which improved the quality of the in workout experience that has been added to the watch since it’s inception.

The fact of the matter is this watch was released half baked and is now probably three-fifths baked.

(Edit: after posting this I realized waypoints got added while navigating which if used properly are fantastic)

I would like the watch to strike every 100 steps. Because? Because I like it that way.

User suggestions are taken into account, not for this at any cost developed. Development means cost of human resources that in addition to having to be paid, are subtracted from features that are required by most users or at least so Suunto imagines.

Intervals navigation is a borderline case and I think Suunto knows this well. How can I follow a track if the watch warns me to sprint and recovery? The intervals can be done even without programming them on the watch, the body will benefit the same, I guarantee. In this regard, if it is really necessary to split partials without using an uncomfortable button, I suggest the use of the “useless” suunto plus Sprint

i would really not like to have this feature, so if you request it, please mention that it must be user selectable. If not, i will leave the Brand to another one.

@zrumlow Believe me when companies have a roadmap to follow it is not that easy to stick some more features between milestones. Not to mention if a particular features requirement is not compatible with their system yet.
I don’t want to defend Suunto or any other company, but we should be reasonable with our wishes (not all wishes come true 😉 ) and let’s not forget we buy their products if it suits our need, but we shouldn’t expect them to customize to our likings.
One thing I learned: keep your hopes reasonable and you will have less disappointment.

@zrumlow You have not been around long enough. User requests fulfilled:

                                1. Offline sync
                                2. Offline route addition to watch
                                3. Distance on watch as the route is drawn not direct as the crow flies.
                                4. Features added in SuuntoPlus come quite close to interval features requested: Sprint will automatically track any interval workout. Loop and climb are useful. Users requested weather info while outside and SuuntoPlus provides that.
                                5. Longer battery life (this was implemented by introducing FusedTrack, an awesome and amazing feature) now is 120h with GPS tracks that are excellent.
                                6. Color screen
                                7. New watch face
                                8. baro indicator as was on Ambits
                                9. Waypoints
                                10. HR/Pace/Power zones in ring on display
                                11. Stryd Integration
                                12. Custom sport modes
                                13. Intervals (initially, the Spartan had none, now we have the current interval set up)

I could probably think of more but this is what I remember quickly.

Many of these were requested by Ambit users prior to this forum being introduced.

For me the S9 baro is nearly fully baked. You are welcome to your opinion but the moderators would appreciate you being civil. I have provided the answers to the questions you requested

@zrumlow please keep your line of though and assumptions about what Suunto does to your self. I didn’t come at your house to say how your life works because we had a coffee.

While we do listen there is also iteration planning etc.

And perhaps intervals + navigation doesn’t give so much user profit.

P.S. There are many forums out there to speak out any assumptions you have about people and companies. There is also twitter. For the rest , feedback ideas etc you are most welcome here .
