Yesterday I planned a session with a 2k warm up run, a set of 20x50m intervals, 20 secs recovery and then 2k steady jog home and thought I would use multisport for the first time. So I set up a new exercise “run with interval” with the settings I wanted then tried to use multisport with 3 sections normal run followed by the intervals run followed by another normal run.
This started ok with the normal run but when I switched to interval run I couldn’t find a way to get it started.
I think I may have misunderstood; do you have to go into the run settings every time you want to start some intervals? I suspect I may have to do 3 separate exercises. Also I could not find in the manual how the watch informs you with an interval or a recovery finishes - does it beep at you??How does one manage a 3 phase session like the above anyway I need to set my watch up in the home before I start anything as I am visually impaired and cannot see anything properly on my watch while i am out. I literally have to know the sequence of buttons I am going to press before I start anything.
Incidentally I ended up doing 3 normal runs and doing the intervals manually in the end. I was also completely underwhelmed by the data I got back from the App as it only showed me 1k splits and none of the manual splits I had pressed buttons for. In the end I had to go into the watch logbook from where I was able to retrieve most of the data.

@richard-j-adams Well, incredible as it sounds, Suunto does not look like is willing to invest in proper structured sessions like the one you described, even though previous models had that available. Right now you can program that “simple” session in some other brands, but not with Suunto.

Don’t even think about asymmetrical intervals or ladders…

I would say the nearest you could set is a 20x50m with 30” rec time interval training. You would be able to do warming before the exercise (you would press start the exercise once you are warm and ready), and after you finish you would have free run, but you would need to know how long you have been running after the interval training and that’s usually hard to do without reading the watch face.
