So after having used 24/7 hr tracking for 3 nights now, I’ve noticed something interesting.
Every morning not long before my alarm at around 6 am, my heart rate drops suddenly. I’m wearing the watch relatively tight, so I’m trying to figure out what the deal is.

I find it hard to believe that I have a minimum hr in the 40s. I’m just not that fit.

Anyone else seeing anything similar for the period they are sleeping?

@aleksander-h I have had a look and I also have a dip in HR before I wake up.

My dip isn’t as low as yours (likely because i’m not as fit and my HR starts higher than yours).

Also, the timing my my dips isn’t just before my alarm but closer to an hour or so before. My alarm goes off at 0730 (thank you working from home!) but the dip has been either just before or just after 0600 (about the same distance from 0600 as yours are, but one day was before and two days were after).

I used to wake up at 0600, before the pandemic, but I doubt my body is still in that routine 14 months later.

I have a dip always near the wake up time (I dont use alarms)

I am using the s9 and other models

I tend to think it might be related to the bioclock ?

Very possible. I’ve been getting up mostly between 6 and 6.20 for the last three or so years. Time to do some research online i guess 🙂

my HR starts dropping right after I go to bed and then stays low until I get up.

@aleksander-h actually entirely possible. Your HR while sleep can drop/increase by up to 40bpm. Doctors/sleep clinics are not quite sure why it can do this, but very normal.

This morning my low was 60 but did peak just before I woke up at 120 (is ok as before it peaked it was around 80).
Yesterday’s sleep was ll between 80 & 55, but had a similar peak on Tuesday morning just before I woke up.

And yes those HR are normal for me, as have hypertension II.

Is super interesting seeing this detail, and love how the average of that can now be graphed against your sleep. Am really loving the today and sleep tabs in the phone app.(as well as the new stats on the home page providing weekly updates).

Looking at my HR, I don’t think I fall into any of the categories listed by the Oura website.

My HR drops to a steady low level, but then rises when I’m in periods of REM sleep (according to the two different monitors I am using).

I then have a short sharp drop, to the lowest of the night, roughly 60-90 minutes before I wake up.

Generally a hammock or a downward.

I get a similar dip about an hour before my alarm time.

The odd thing is one of the three days, can see my HR gradually decreasing through the sleep as normal from going to bed just after midnight, getting to the 50’s… I woke up before alarm, laid there awake a bit plus had a toilet visit, so HR is up into 70’s) went back to bed just to wait for alarm (!) and had an almost immediate and sharp dip down into the 40’s before getting up and I was back up to 70’s.

It doesn’t seem like it can be real - especially so soon after being awake. I’m not convinced I even went back to sleep.

(the blank bit is Watch on charger).

That Oura link is fascinating - mine is a downward slope - and its correct that I ate quite late and was drinking alcohol until very close to midnight (and also correct that I felt a bit off the next morning!).
