    Hi there , does anyone have any hits of tips
    For Suunto 7 sleep tracking ? Compared to my Baro 9 the results are way out .

    As an example today it registered 3 hours out of 7hours of sleep .

    I have set an alarm, changed my sleep time reminder to earlier and will try again tonight .

    In the last 2 days the Suunto 7 thinks my sleep average is 2.4hrs when I’ve had two good nights sleep .

    Last curveball is I suffer with Atrial Fibrillation so if it’s based off any heart rate or accelerometer combination it maybe the reason why . My Suunto Baro 9 didn’t suffer with this .

    Any ideas ?

      @andy-dennis Welcome Andy!

      I am also asking the team if the HR is used. I do know on the s9 the HR is not used to detect an awake time afaik.

        @dimitrios-kanellopoulos thankyou !

        The S9 Baro I think uses the accelerometer and works without an issue . I can wear to bed tonight and compare the values in the morning 🙂

          @dimitrios-kanellopoulos Hey dude so checking out the S9 Baro you define a sleep range . In my case it’s from 2300 to 0800 . That’s not present on the Suunto 7 . So the time it struggling is with the time I goto sleep .

          Perhaps a similar range needs to be included for the Suunto 7 ?

          Wearing both watches tonight to test .

            @andy-dennis ey, you can set the time you go to bed in the S7.

            Open Suunto WearOS app. Diary>sleep. (I have it in Spanish but that’s the path)

            Here the manual link text

              @bulkan Hi there, thanks for that. Thats already been set. All thats available (and I am using the Beta) is bedtime reminder and the Sleep Goal. Both have been set correctly. I will try and full reset on the watch, and then test again tonight. Basically last night I didn’t sleep !!!

                @andy-dennis
                Is it at least registering your start bedtime and finished bedtime correctly (not talking about sleep duration - suunto app doesn’t have start bedtime)?
                Suunto app will not properly show this, but GFit phone app shows this very well.
                If it is getting that correct, you really can’t complain re not getting sleep stages correct.

                I find mine gets duration pretty accurate, but in terms of sleep stages based against my CPAP information, I not so sure its getting the sleep stages correct, which isn’t a shocker as it isn’t feasible from the metrics a wrist/wearable can provide.

                Note that last night it claims I was awake for a couple of minutes before 7am, but CPAP machine says this isn’t the case. I suspect the wife waking up and getting out of bed may have caused a movement that the watch considered me being awake.

                  Interesting track last night.
                  Fell asleep on the couch shortly after my reminder to go to bed (first time I have done that in ages), so for the first time my watch doesn’t match my CPAP machine. Didn’t understand what was going on until I reviewed the sleep graph in GFit (Suunto really needs to include this in the sleep page) - which showed what had happened. Checked the figures and they all tie back.

                  Great work Firstbeats/Suunto.

                    @jamie-bg Hi There , no google Fit and Suunto are both registering an incorrect start time for sleep . Yet my Suunto Baro 9 is correct .

                    @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos is there any case this could be an issue with the Watch ? Or is it down to my Atrial Fibrillation as I am constantly out of rhythm at present .

                    What’s strange is the Baro 9 has been able to deal with this without an issue .

                    The sleep times in Google Fit match the Sleep Times in the Suunto app.

                    The issue isn’t the wake up time , it always seems to take 1-2hrs to detect I have fallen asleep . Even with my sleep time reminder set at 9.30pm .

                    Either there is a potential issue with the HR on the watch , or a difference between the HR sensor to the Baro 9 which is less susceptible to an irregular heartbeat .

                    Any other ideas ? Or does this need to goto Support ?

                      @andy-dennis s9b doesn’t rely on hr to determine start of a sleep cycle. If S7 does, it may be an explanation you’re looking for.

                        Not sure if it’s relevant, but I really struggled with my Spartan Wrist HR Baro and sleep tracking, in a way that sounds very similar to this. It was recording 3-4 hours, when I knew I was sleeping for 7-9.
                        The Spartan seems to ‘go to sleep’ when not used for a period (as a battery saver) and ‘wakes up’ when you press a button. What I guess was happening for me was as follows:

                        1. Spartan would go to sleep
                        2. I would go to bed, with the ‘sleep and wake’ time set appropriately
                        3. At some point during the night, I would turn over (or do something) which would wake the watch, and allow it to realise that I was asleep, and it would start recording…

                        When I go to bed, I now ‘wake the watch up’ before turning out the light, and it’s tracked pretty well ever since.

                        Maybe luck, but if it helps…

                        Best regards,

                          Yes S7 is using FirstBeat sleep tracking which does use HR.

                            @jamie-bg so does the Baro 9 but the difference is a different HR sensor in the watch and you set a sleep time range . I’m going to try a few more things before I give up !

                            I don’t want to go back to the Baro 9 as I love the additional features of the Suunto 7 especially mapping and I’m not going mountain epic long runs !

                            It’s just very strange the Baro 9 works without an issue and recently the 7 has just refused to record any sleep .

                            Will give it another to tonight .

                              Assume you are putting watch in cinema mode, and your are setting the touch lock?

                              when checking the sleep record is the start, middle or end missing?
