@dimitrios-kanellopoulosDon’t get me wrong, I love this watch, but in the specific situations I’m talking about, that’s right.

@nikshot its your right to say that. But also A2 could just fail (crash mid activity) and then its worse as it’s not Mobile connected.

That said, I do understand the need of this feature. I dont want to argue. 😄

However, please during critical situation prepare better than just going out with a non connected watch. Else Bear Grills will Grill.

@prenj Find back gives you the equivalent of a POI at the location you started recording.

          From the S9 manual:

If you are using GPS when recording an activity, Suunto 9 automatically saves the starting point of your exercise. With Find back, Suunto 9 can guide you directly back to your starting point.

So for retracing a complex route where the direct line back could put you in a series of dead ends, it’s next to useless.

Do people from Suunto read these comments? If so could one of them kindly explain why they took functionality that was in the older watches (in my case a Traverse) out of the watch and put it in the app?

            @david-young you understand that:

            1. You have all the stats of that start poi
            2. You have the route in detail as breadbrumb

Do people from Suunto read these comments? If so could one of them kindly explain why they took functionality that was in the older watches (in my case a Traverse) out of the watch and put it in the app?

There was nothing gotten out of the traverse. It works as it worked right? or did I miss something?

              Thanks for replying.

              1. Yes, you have the stats for the start POI, but where does that get you? We’re assuming we have trekked out of reach of a wifi signal, and can’t use the app to make a new route.

              2. Breadcrumb is NOWHERE explained in the S9 manual. Maybe it’s the solution?

Sorry, I didn’t mean that the Traverse had been impaired by removing the recording feature, I meant that the new expensive watches Suunto want us to buy have been impaired by removing the recording feature, and I’m curious as to why they did it!

@david-young check the last screen. It always records the route even when paused. You can use that to navigate back to start even without enabling the “findback” function. The findback function is to show some stats around the starting points and add some arrows at the navigation screen.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos OK, I’ll give Breadcrumb a try this afternoon when I trek into the wilds of the city centre.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulosLet me just say that the moment we record the route, there is no going back, not even the last screen.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulosWith A2 if it crashes maybe (but it didn’t happen to me) … but with S9 as it is connected it is guaranteed that I will not have a track at the end!

@dimitrios-kanellopoulosIt’s very simple - return the old function in question.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulosI want to add that the application is great and very useful when I decide to plan a route from home, but when I’m in the wild I desperately need the most important features - you already know what it is 🙂

Keep in mind I cannot promise. I am adding this feedback to my reports but even if this feature was the best / most wanted for me , I dont decide. I dont want to raise hopes that’s why I am saying this.

@brad_olwin said in Transfer routes from logbook to navigation?:

I can import a GPX file from a list on the phone and import into SA … with no cellular and no wifi.

This isn’t working for me on the latest iOS public version. It loads the GPX file, it displays the route, but cannot save it (Save button doesn’t do anything when is pushed).

@andrasveres Same here on 2.4.1 (Beta 8996). Save button does show it’s been tapped but that’s it. Tried with & w/o cached map tile areas, GPX from Files, from external storage. BT watch connection adds the “Use in watch” toggle but on/off makes no difference.
