      @jamie-bg I’m cautiously optimistic.

        Honestly, i’m pretty excited.
        Samsung Watch 4 rumoured to be on wearos will most likely make it’s debut just after the event if it’s a thing.
        We have real renders of the pixel watch which could be cancelled because it’s google. Those renders of the watch also include the software which looks refreshed but it’s too hard to tell from 3 pics.
        Shareholders will want to see the significance of the Fitbit buy out.

        Samsung alone coming to WearOS will make Google want to update it. This is a huge win for Google if it’s true and Google will want to capitalize on it. Android Wear was really only updated because of the Samsung Gear partnership. Also, Samsung must know something because they wouldn’t jump ship from their own OS to a dead platform if they didn’t.

        Pixel Renders from a very reliable source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xioX3XTRomM&t=593s

        I think Aug/Sept 2021 we will get a huge wearOS update along with Suunto’s fitness focused update (i read somewhere that Suunto April2021 update was focused on health and next will be focused on fitness that will come sometime Aug/Sept2021)

        Phone: S22 Ultra, Android 12
        Watch: Suunto 7
        Connected accounts: Fatmap, Strava, Wikiloc, Google Fit, klimat, Komoot

            @isazi Will be very interesting to see how many others start using/get access to Samsung chips.

              Not looking good news for the Suunto 7 😞

              https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2021/7/22/22588440/google-wear-os-3-update-smartwatch-samsung-2022

              Seems like anything with the SD 3100 is getting hung out to dry 😞

                Wasn’t really expecting it to be honest. I just hope future apps don’t require Wear 3.0 specific APIs.

                Wear 3.0 is probably an appropriate time for a Suunto 7 gen 2 (I hope there will be one).

                  @aleksander-h I agree.

                  WearOS needs a full on overhaul and with the promised performance increase of the Exynos chips, if they had supported the 3100 it would have held the OS back.

                  Apart from Suunto, there aren’t any watches using the 3100 well anyway.

                  And year a second gen S7 to launch early 2022 (or maybe even late 2021 so I can put it on Christmas list!) would be a rough two year release cycle which would be about right for something like this.

                    I love my 7 as it is, so I’m ok if it’s not updated to 3.x. But it would of course be nice to get a newer os. Just because… 😉

                            @aleksander-h considering that spotify offline will probably be available around the same time as YTM, Google has missed out on a huge, huge selling point and option to obtain new subscribers for YTM.

                              Not sure I want an update to “2 days max” battery life, when I already get 3 days+.

                                    I think the significant settings are >

                                    Display>

                                    Adjust Brightness = Auto (to lowest setting)
                                    Sunlight Boost = Off
                                    Always-on screen = Off
                                    Screen timeout = 5secs

                                    Gestures>

                                    Tilt-to-wake = Off
                                    Power-save tilt = On
                                    Touch-to-wake = Off
                                    For navigation > Wrist Gestures = Off

                                    Connectivity>
                                    WiFi = Off
                                    (when at home, I tend to leave my phone in my office, and Bluetooth doesn’t reach from that location to kitchen, bed, and a few other places I spend a lot of time - and I’m not that bothered about receiving the notifications as I’ll get them when I go back close to the phone or sitting in the living room below it, so don’t care about connecting to my WiFi).

                                    I have Heart Rate, Daily Resources and Sleep tracking all ON.
                                    Any of the Suunto Watch faces.
                                    Tiles are Today, Heart Rate, Resources, Sleep, Overview, Weather.

                                    No Google Fit. No auto-updates.

                                    This gets me a solid 2+ days before I consider recharging - and would easily cover the full 3rd day…except…whenever I go running (3 or 4 days out of 7) - I tend to top up before I go (I like to do an activity starting from 100% for no particular reason!), and then a quick re-charge after I finish.

                                    I also usually toggle AirPlane if going for a run, even if I have my phone with me or not.

                                    My phone (Samsung) is also on some kind of schedule via the Battery Guardian app in Good Guardians, so it goes low-power overnight…I don’t know if this impacts things and the Bluetooth connection stops and the Watch doesn’t bother wasting power after a while, as I seem to drain very little battery overnight from say 11pm until 8am…maybe 7% or so…(so around 1%ish per hour or less, compared to roughly 1.5 to 2% per hour normally)…if I’m doing a morning run, I know if I’m fully charged the night before, I can wake to the vibrating alarm, and can recharge back to 100% in less than 10 mins or so.

                                        @harboe Just tested in my local store and it worked. An odd thing I don’t know if it’s just because it’s the first time is that I had to do it twice and on the second try it prompted for my pin.

                                          I think that’s perfectly normal for Google Pay, it’s a security thing. Next time should be a simple tap and go 🙂
