        @dombo s9b later. We are going to try it I promise.
        But this is both HW and software limitation. The s9P has a better sensor position.

        So the plan is that this goes live for the s9p and once users like it , making sure we didn’t break things, then we will try to bring it to s9b.

        However that does not mean that we will succeed.

        This is mainly for rolling hills or terrains that base less on total ascent.

          @dimitrios-kanellopoulos
          thinking out loud: would it be possible for selected S9B users to get a temporary test version?

              @dimitrios-kanellopoulos IĀ”m sure you will succeed!! šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜‰

              As @freeheeler I can test an alpha/beta version, I live in an area where I have small hills, and to have some decent ascent I have to run lots of ups and downs.

                I have never left Suunto. I still have my old A3P which I use occasionally to compare Garmin F6X against. Surprisingly, I also sometimes use Suunto App to make routes for F6X, which I can do all on my mobile phone (export from SuuntoApp and import into Garmin Connect). But I don’t think I’ll buy S9B again after selling it 1.5 years ago. That would be silly. S9P is too small for me. If Suunto releases a new watch with S9P internals, a larger screen, and a larger battery, I’d be very tempted.

                  @dimitrios-kanellopoulos i am a s9b user, i hope you can bring that features to S9b cause is fair for All the users to have the best and new options in ours watches; that is the best way for us to feel that Suunto is protecting our investments and taking our needs seriously.

                  Thanks

                    @tfm1973 this is not a matter of will, but a matter of ā€œis it possibleā€. The S9 Baro has a different sensor, and a different positioning of the sensor, so it is not the same as the Peak.

                    Already some testing (of different nature) on the altimeter of the baro showed too much ascent/descent being recorded. We hope in this new algorithm to improve things for the Baro too, but it’s not this simple.

                      @isazi any improvement is welcome. We await the new algorithm to do the tests.

                      Hopefully it can be during this month.

                      Thanks!

                        Here is 24x41.5m (last rep was a little higher to reach 1k up) .

                        No stopping , storm coming in etc.

                        With the old algo due to 41m it would have been around 940m

                        The algo will come in for the s9p in the next release.

                        That is fantastic…

                          Fun fact, loading the tracked file from Suunto App tracked with S9B into Garmin Connect, the ascent also changes.

                          Suunto App: 3400m
                          Garmin Connect: 3700m

                          Total ascent of 2021 in total is also completely off:
                          Suunto App 83k
                          Garmin Connect: 100k

                            I posted this in another thread but I think it’s interesting data so will repost here. My training partner has a Garmin Enduro and I use a S9B, pretty much weekly we’ll do a hill run of 20km(ish) with 500m or so of vert. Here’s how things usually line up at the end…

                              @miniforklift

                              Interesting that the pace is off by 0.05, which is what I’m seeing on my sb9 vs ambit 3 peak/ timed event, because the sb9 always overestimates the distance slightly.

                                @jokeen2020 Yeah it always records slightly longer, but I hate all of the elevation I lose out on!
