Hi! This week I’m planning to do a trail run, and this will be my first time using “snap to route”. The route is two 10.5 km circles. I have 1 lap of the route loaded on my watch. How will the watch behave when I enter the 2nd lap? Thx!

@stas-varazhbit it is a fairly complex route! So in my experience when you end a loop and start another one at the beginning the watch will be confused because you just reached the destination, but if you keep going for 100 meters or so it should get back on route. However I never tried this with snap-to-route.

@stas-varazhbit At the end of the first lap, no movement will be recorded until you move 100 metres from the end (straight line distance; according the shape of your route, it might be much more). Then your watch will notify you that you’re not on the route and then immediately follows the notification that you’re back on route and “snap to route” starts working again. So, you will loose 100+ metres. See my test report here: https://forum.suunto.com/topic/6577/software-update-2-16-26-june-10th-2021/63?_=1635239974895

So, the best would be to either creating a route with both laps or triggering “snap to route” manually again after the first lap.

S9 (non-baro): died after 2 months, replaced, holding strong since 03/20
Spartan Trainer: casing broke after 23 months, repaired, lost watertightness 5 months later, died
Despite some pretty bad luck, I still love Suunto!

No problem on my S9B. I often have three and more loops while mountain biking and all loops are shown and navigated in the correct way.

@pilleus Yeah, but we are talking about “snap to route” functionality here, not just ordinary route navigation 🙂 When you use normal route navigation, the recording of course continues and you can do as many loops as you want without loosing anything. When it comes to “snap to route” the situation is more complicated according to my tests.

Thank you all! Losing 100 meters on the route is not critical for me at all, but I completely forgot about the normal navigation during the race. I’ll use it, and leave “snap to route” for the city streets.

Okay, therefore: Never change a running system … 😂
