Sorry if this is redundant, but I searched and didn’t see the topic anywhere else.
For the last several months my watch disconnects from my wear OS app multiple times a day and in order to use my tiles I have to open up my phone, the wear OS app and go into my watch to reconnect. I have to do this anywhere from 2-4 times a day, depending on how in top of it I am.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a simple fix that I just don’t know about?
    TIA

@nikki_k some more information would be useful. Like which phone model and OS are you using.
If Android, are there settings to make the WearOS app persistent in the memory? Does the phone have specific energy saving options that shuts services down? etc

@nikki_k -have you checked the suunto 7 sticky - this is a pretty regular issue and is normally due to android closing the wear os app when its running in the background. The Sticky provides details on how to lock your phone’s wear os app in the background.

@jamie-bg I have not, I’m rarely on this forum so I’m not the best at navigating it. Where do I find that?
Also, if it matters. I have an iPhone 11pro. I’m not running the newest iOS but it’s a fairly recent one. I will check the background refresh status of my wear OS app and see if that helps too

            1. When you open the WearOS app does the app state disconnected?
            2. In iOS Settings/Bluetooth/(the blue circle with an i) is the Share System Notifications turned on?
            3. When you open Settings/Bluetooth is the Suunto 7 Connected or Disconnected?

These will help narrow down the issues you are having, whether it is an app or a phone issue.

              1. Yes, the wear OS app says it’s disconnected, so does my watch
              2. Yes the Bluetooth info says connected and share systems connections of turned on
              3. Yes, It says it’s connected.

I went into background refresh and turned it on for wear OS as well.

Pinned at the top of the suunto 7 forum.

One of the biggest issues with any bluetooth smartwatch is android/iOS itself. To keep the systems running smooth both operating systems have a habit of killing apps running in the background (some android manufacturers make it worse as they often tweak with android’s underlying RAM management system). Notifications etc are all pushed through the wear os app, so if this keeps on getting close, you loose notifications etc as you effectively aren’t connected anymore (even if you are by bluetooth).

If on iPhone maybe someone else can tell you how to lock the wear os app into the background so iOS doesn’t kill it.

If you are on android, then the overall process is the same, but depending on brand the names and where the function is, can be different. Your best bet is to long press the wear os icon - this should pop up a menu - look for app information (may be an i icon) - press on that which will take you to the app details/settings. Scroll down the settings looking for a battery or Memory setting option - press on it (if both you will need to check to see which one its under) - There should be 2 - 3 settings - read what they do, however one setting should allow it so that app can’t be closed (i.e. OnePlus has it under battery optimisation in the App settings - and under it there are 3 options - Intelligent control (android does its thing), optimise (doesn’t allow it to run in the background - useful for battery hog apps, that you don’t need to work in background i.e. don’t put gmail in here as will then not sync unless you have it open - app has to be open and in use), Don’t Optimise (this means the system can’t close it - and this is the one you want).
