@isazi and no, I am doing absolutely nothing. I wear the watch on my arm, do not even move it and suddenly the watch reboots. Very strange.

@burgstjo can you try with a standard watchface? Also which firmware version do you have?

@isazi The custom Watchface was/is only installed but I didn’t use it because it didn’t work in power save mode.
          The build-number is: PXDZ.210716.001.A1

@burgstjo okay it seems you have the latest available firmware. I would suggest to contact support, and hopefully someone with a S7 can help you also here.

@burgstjo Before you contact support remove the custom watch face and reboot the watch. If the watch continues to reboot I would reset to factory settings. Uninstall SA and WearOS on your phone then reinstall and set up the watch again. If that fails it is definitely time to contact support.

@brad_olwin Removing the watch face and resetting to factory defaults did not stop my S7 from rebooting. This time the first reboot happened about 24 hours after the reset.

The only thing I did after factory reset was updating wear os and the suggested apps on my watch.

So now I will reset it again and additionally uninstall the SA and WearOS on my phone. Hope this helps.

                    Thank you anyway!

After resetting the watch to factory defaults and not doing any update of WearOS, linking Google account and so on, it looked fine for a few days in power-save mode. Then I did a training with suunto app and after this again set it to power-save. Today, after less than two days, the watch rebooted again. So I will send it back to Suunto and hope, they will find a solution. Very disappointing …

Yesterday I received my S7 from support. I set it up and put it into power-save (6 pm). Today at 9:30 am I wanted to look up the time, but it did not respond (neither keypress, nor touch, nor tilting). So it behaves exactly as before the repair at support. I contacted the customer service via chat and we rebooted it again. I expect it to reboot tomorrow. What should I do, if this happens again? How can I get a replacement?

@burgstjo honest question here (although sadly it likely won’t help you resolve your issue), but is there a reason you use the power saver mode so much?

Typically the power save is intended for when you are running out of juice and it activates in order to keep basic features (time and date) running whilst turning everything else off. Or if you will be away from power for a long time and not able to charge it.

When in power saver mode, the S7 becomes a large and heavy digital watch. No smart features or fitness features work.
It seems strange to buy a smartwatch with fitness tracking and then turn the smart and fitness tracking off. You would get the same functionality switching to a £10 Casio (in fact the Casio would do more).

Again, this is an honest question and I am not criticising your use, it is your watch to do with as you please. I am just curious.

If you are looking to save battery the S7 has fantastic battery for a smartwatch and I can get over 56hrs from a 100% charge (with no GPS tracking). If I charge it whilst showering then this is more than enough to keep it charged enough that running out is never a worry.
If you are wanting to turn off the smart features (for peace and quiet) in the evenings, you could try the DnD or Aeroplane modes?
                          Maybe that could help?

@olymay The reason why I use the power-save mode is, that I do my trainings once or twice a week and I do not want to have two watches. So this power-save feature fits my own habits very well. And if a watch offers this feature, it simply should work, don’t you think so?

@burgstjo yes it should, but then again tech doesn’t always work to well when it isn’t being used in the manner it was intended.
Personally I based on the way you use a fitness watch I really do think you have bought the wrong type of watch, and actually would have been much better off with a pure fitness smartwatch like the S9B, or possibly even better an garmin instinct solar. They would provide you with the fitness tracking you want, yet also give you the battery life you want without having to resort to specialized battery modes which are supposed to be used in specific circumstances and weren’t designed to be used every day.

You aren’t using the smart features that a full smartwatch like the suunto 7 is mainly designed around, with the con being battery life - so would have made much more sense to have gone for a fitness watch that focuses on battery life and giving your the fitness features you require, with the con being a lack of smart features, which you generally do not seem to use.

@burgstjo I have to agree with @Jamie-BG here. Yes, the battery save feature should work, but it was never intended be the primary mode of the watch. It is a back up.

Like @Jamie-BG says, it seems you may have bought the wrong device for your needs. The S7 is a smartwatch first, and an (excellent) fitness watch second. If you do not need/want the smart features, why buy a smartwatch?

Depending on the types of training you do, you may be better suited to a Suunto 5, or a Garmin FR245, or a Coros Pace? Or Maybe something more hardcore?

@olymay I would agree with you, if the problem reliably occurs after 1 to 2 days, but it sometimes reboots after a few hours. If I can not rely on my watch, I cannot use it. For me it is a faulty product because it has a function, that does not reliably work, and suunto does not even recognize it as a problem. Very disappointing 😞

@burgstjo forgive me, but I am still not entirely sure what the problem is with the watch.

It does seem to me that you have bought a smartwatch simply to turn the smart features off??

Why not buy a Suunto 5 or 9 or a Garmin or a Coros etc? They all do what you want without the smart features and have excellent battery life.

I have only used the battery saver on my S7 once and it was only for about 5-6 hours, during which time it worked perfectly as intended (it showed the time and did nothing else). This was due to it running low on battery and switching that mode itself to maintain basic operations.
The rest of the time I want it in full power mode so that it tracks steps, HR, sleep, notifications, etc (which is why i bought a smartwatch).

If there is a genuine issue with your watch, then send it back to Suunto for investigation, their support is genuinely excellent.

@olymay My experince with suunto support was that they did not even properly read my problem report. Turned on the watch, made their standard checks and after a few hours returned it telling me that everything is ok. I suggested to change the watch because I still think that this issue only regards my wathch, but they refused the exchange.

I haven’t needed to send a watch back to Suunto, but my experience with them over the phone was fantastic. They asked me to carry out various checks, send crash reports, and went over and above to help (in the end it could only be fixed by a major system update).

The Suunto checks would be thorough enough to identify any issues/faults with a device. If they have sent it back then it is most likely perfectly fine. Them not wanting to swap a working used device for a brand new one is perfectly reasonable.
