thinking of getting a used S9B for my girlfriend. I could get a 3+ years old watch. What do think is the average (battery) lifetime? Can it last another 3 years? Otherwise I might get an official refurbished one… thanks.

@mountainchris A friend of mine has my old S9B (from January 2019). The battery hasn’t noticeably deteriorated.

(That’s no guarantee for all watches ofcourse, your mileage may vary.)

@mountainchris official should be miles better.
So, depending on the use of S9 you can get up to a week of battery life, but If notifications/sleep/hr are all enabled + hour of GPS a day, I’d say 4 days is more reasonable. Now, that’s about 90 charges per year. Typical battery lasts about 300 - 1000 charging cycles before it starts degrading rapidly. If the watch was actively used, it might be slowly approaching that mark.
Of course, you could always send the watch to suunto to exchange the battery, but I’m not sure, how expansive this will be.
On the other hand, official refurbished units offer ( usually, not sure about suunto) at least 80% of original battery capacity.

maybe the risk of buying a used watch isn’t that big. in case the battery completely disappoints you, you can always make a service request for a battery replacement, that shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg…

not sure how official this link is and prices will vary for locations… https://forum.suunto.com/topic/6726/bezel-replacement/22
