      @Luis-Andés-Olmedo
or the GPS antenna, or …
      lots of speculation 🙂
rotate the screen display might not be the problem in software side, but use the watch reverse to its designed orientation (meaning on each single wrist) might be.
I am neither at Suunto and just speculating with you 😉

The antenna seems to be the point. Makes sense

Not true, the display only mode shifts pixels so that pixel burn in is at a minimum. Second, the display either turns oft or goes to minimum display, which shifts pixels when your wrist is down.

Not true, because I’m not talking about the option you added, but about the watchface - if you use one watch face, the same pixels always work, which causes uneven degradation of other pixels.
I emphasize once again - I’m not talking about the AOD function, because it is something else :)).

I am not saying its easy, i am working in IT, so i know there are task that need time, but they even listen community? Because from what I see, there are a lot of topics that people ask for but are not done and it’s starting to worry me.

What do u mean? Do you mean that all sensors under the watch working “upside down” will have a problem?
As I mentioned, I do NOT want it to be automatic rotation, only via the options in the menu.

(You shall find either original French podcast link, and an English transcription link)

I read the English version, which is added somewhere by a forum user. Unfortunately, I disagree with most of them.
They write that they are more “outdoor” than “sports”, that’s why they added skills such as: “golf”, “motosports”? Common guys :D.
Maybe adding all these little things would make them money to compete with Garmin (in an interview they said they were too small).

Overall, I am satisfied with the watch - it works well outdoors
water, I will soon test it on a bike - I’m only worried about the gym.

I meant exactly that, maybe the sensor being more exposed to wind could cause any issues. Anyway, in the link that @Tieutieu posted they explain that it may be due to the position of the GPS antenna for better reception…

                  Just guessing.

What? What hardwear? Why you need hardware? Just simple rotation option in settings, just like for example “flashlight”. I dont talk about auto-rotation.

May the position of the baro sensor have something to do with that?

Good one. In Coros watches the position of the baro sensor is in the lateral of the watch so always remains in the same position although you rotate the watch.

@karmazynowycukiereczek I do not understand your comments or comments like yours sometimes. Do you understand how a private company works? They develop some products, taking technical/commercial decisions that will have limitations. Resources, all of them, are limited.

So, when you write “I am not saying its easy, i am working in IT, so i know there are task that need time, but they even listen community? Because from what I see, there are a lot of topics that people ask for but are not done and it’s starting to worry me.” I wonder, what worries you? That a private company doesn’t listen to you? (Sure they do) Or that you bought a watch that doesn’t do the things exactly as you like? Do you have some stocks in the company and you think that you are going to lose some money?

You have bought a product with functionalities that if it doesn’t suit you, you can return it. Suunto is adding functionalities with every update, I’m pretty sure that the roadmap for these new features was made some time ago. If you want new features you can request them directly to Suunto support or create/relaunch a feature request from this very forum which is read by Suunto workers.

BTW and regarding the screen of the Race, in some Telegram forum with Suunto workers, questions about the screen and more customization arise and the answer was that people at Suunto would like to have more customization but with that you’ll also add the risk of more burn in screens. So, probably, you will do a good use of more customization to the screen but what will the other users do? If you were Suunto what will you do knowing that resources are limited? Will you risk to have more replacements without a very good implementation of this customization? Will this effort cover its cost and generate revenue?

@jjpaz As someone said before the issue is with the GPS antenna

The S9B and Spartans have the baro sensor in the side and it also have its downsizes like pumping effect, even more if you wear the watch in the right arm and you block the sensor with your hand. That effect can be seen in COROS watches too, more easily than in Suunto ones too. A friend of mine switched from a S9BTi to a Coros Vertix 2 and in nearly all his runs he has a pumping effect that gives him more ascent, sometimes more than 60/80 m in a 10 km trail running with around 300 m ascent, you can see the spikes in the ascent graph.

@Brad_Olwin if memory serves me correctly this was the problem with Samsung galaxy watches. The aftermarket watch faces (ones not designed by Samsung) didn’t shift pixels properly and caused burn in on Amoled screens. They had a bunch of warranty claims of burned in screens within a year of ownership.

I dunno, I would much rather have a few watch faces than a burned screen.

Again, on watch faces they all revert to a low power mode by default and the pixels shift precisely to prevent burn in. You cannot turn this off.
During exercise the display will dim or turn off so that pixel burn in is either minimized or does not occur. So, it is unclear what you are referring to as I have described all uses.

OK, I take the watch and look at the dial to check the time - I do it several times a day, what happens to the pixels that light up every day or every time I move the watch and show me practically the same dial?
I’m not talking about AOD and I’m not talking about training, I’m talking about a basic dial - just like the wallpaper on a locked phone.

@karmazynowycukiereczek On that “locked” face for the dial the pixels are shifted but I do not know the time frame to prevent burn in.

                                  1. ??

                                  2. What? What are you talking about? A simple simple example from the edge - when people ask about the UI rotation by 180 and such questions arise many times, and the company is unable to respond to them with a specific answer or they answer "Suunto targets people “outdoor”, not “sporty”, and at the same time, on the main page they show Golf game banners, and in the watch I find the “mermaiding” sports mode - that worries me so much. I don’t know why you reduce the conversation to absurdities - company shares?? I was warned that Suunto, as one of the brands, has a lot of fanboys .

                                  3. I can’t check everything at one time, but I also assume that since 5 watches have given options, they are industry standards and since I didn’t find an answer earlier about Suunto, but e.g. 4 other brands have the ability to rotate the UI (not automatic - I will repeat), I assume that Suunto also has them, and the explanation (I will repeat myself) that they are more “outdoor” and not “sport” - these are not great arguments.

3.1. Can I return it after a month? I would be happy to use this option - should I write to support?

3.2. Are you “sure” - okay. Interesting.

I won’t answer the rest of the questions because they’re nonsense. Have a nice day.

I won’t answer the rest of the questions because they’re nonsense. Have a nice day.

2 and 3. Suunto does not rotate the watch face for changing hands, this has already been explained and is due to antenna and baro sensor placement. Simple answer. Unlikely to happen on current hardware.

3.1 Depends on where you purchased but should be returnable.

                                    1. I have explained the pixel shift information counting this 3 times for you. I am also a field tester and familiar with the watch. It seems you do not accept my answer, I have answered your question.

I asked about “watch faces”, i.e. “wallpapers” on the main screen of the watch. The 1st time I received an answer about AOD, the 2nd time about training, and the 3rd time about the “locked” dial.

I look at my watch now - what’s going on with the red marked pixels - that was the question. Maybe we have language barriers or I’m translating incorrectly.

If nothing is happening with them (and this is what I understand so far), then it is a good idea to upload more custom “watch faces” or add a store with them, because, for example, I would set a gray background that would burn the pixels evenly - that’s how I understand and this is the principle of the OLED screens.

But its ok, i will write my question to support, maybe you are right - forum isnt good place to ask about this.

These watch faces are not on all of the time. If you have AOD on it will revert to the time only where pixels are shifted quickly. This watch face only comes on when you raise your wrist, not enough time to burn in pixels.
The developers have done all they can to prevent pixel burn in. They learned from the first Suunto AMOLED watch, the Suunto 7, which had pixel burn in.

On an AMOLED screen all black pixels are off as you know. My answer above is the same answer I have provided several times now.

The simple answer is the pixels are not lit for a sufficiently long time to cause burn in. That is what I have been told. The watch has not been out for long so we will see.
