@VasilisCY I think you will need to connect the DM5 software to your Suunto App, which will then sync to your dive computer. In other words, as far as I’m aware, there’s no direct connection between DM5 and your dive computer – your Suunto App is bridge between. Same for my Eon Steel.

        Hello everyone,

I have a suunto peak 9 right now, and I am also a instructor diver. I am then very interested to upgrade to a single watch + computer.

BUT I will only buy it if I can plan my dives. And I don’t speak of a workout schedule.
        I speak of :

        • I enter the depth and time I will be
        • it gives me the NDL (no déco limit) or TTS (time to surface), number of decompression stops, time of each stop
        • it considers my current N2 saturation from my precedent dives in case of successive dives.

I don’t have the DM5 software and online it does not say that it is compatible with the suunto ocean. Can we implement it on the App, and is it possible to have that feature of dive planner directly in the watch?

If not possible, I will be obliged to go to Garmin for a powerful dive watch 😥, while suunto has already so much to offer!

        Kind regards,
        Thank you.

@Adelynn I have an ocean. As a dive computer, I hope next firmware updates bring ocean close to main competitors.
Until there go for Tern TX, Teric, MK2 or MK3.

Hi @diveman and all, I just bought my Ocean and used it a few times. I am absolutely dissapointed to see there is no dive planner… an essential element of a dive computer, so essential I unfortunately did not check for it when considering buying it. Except for that, kudos to Suunto, I like all the rest. I hope the compass function while diving will still be more upgraded, I now only see the heading…
Did anyone get an answer on the dive planner issue?

I bought a new suunto ocean with Tank Pod, I was really happy when I did my frist dive with it, battery is cool and also the Oled screen is amazing, I can use my watch on the gym or when I workout, my surprise was when I discovered that there is no Dive Planner on it, having a Suunto Vyper and Suunto D5, how Suunto did removed this option? I’m desapointed about this feature as I do several dives a Day, I don’t use any dive panner on computer like the DM tool, many of us that are diving everyday doing 2-3 dives even in the recreative world this option is mandatory.
Suunto please add this option in your next update.

Hi, I have just bought a Suunto Ocean as a long time Garmin user. Overall I think the watch is really cool and I like the fact that it combines outdoor and diving. That’s a big Plus.

However I was also irritated to find out that there is absolutely no planning feature in the Suunto Ocean, which is hard to accept for the flagship product. Especially since all the information is included on the watch anyway. This should not be too difficult to add. I really hope the software will be updated accordingly because with this defect it’s a big no go for my fellow diving colleagues, despite all the other nice features. At the end of the day a dive computer has to be functional and not just beautiful. Please do this upgrade !

And as a long time Garmin user, one small remark, I really miss the option to view my app data on a normal website on a normal computer…

Otherwise it’s a cool product and it performers well for the standard Diving features!

@MF_Diver as far as I know, the (on watch) dive planner should come to the watch with Q4 2024 update

                  Watch: Suunto Vertical Ti

Thx @isazi, I am glad to hear! That’s really the main feature this Dive computer needs. Can’t wait to see it!

@pavel-samokha Yes, it’s nice. On the other hand, how do you plan your dive when using several gases? I have the impression that you can only plan with the use of a single active gas

@Redhat6 I think you input the gases you have and the dive planner tells you the depth to change from one to the other. At least thats what my Mares does, if I’m not mistaken (never used it so far)

The current NDL planner is very limited, with Suunto opting for the easy way out. It should allow users to plan consecutive dives using the watch or the app, and then transfer the data to the watch.

Considering that the Suunto Ocean is a recreational dive computer, having a good dive planner is essential.

Until we receive a better dive planner, I am using the free app “Diveplanner Tec & Rec” from the Play Store. Suunto could take inspiration from it.

This is unfortunately not the case: I tried to prepare a dive with 3 gases, it only offers me to plan with the active gas, it does not give me the depths and gas change times

@Redhat6 That doesn’t sound good and Unfortunatly the user manual of the Ocean is not updated to clarify it. Especially with multiple gases the planner would be useful… 🫤
Maybe the Ocean was released a little too early

@VoiGAS Yes the product is still young. And I think that it is mainly intended for an audience who does recreational single-gas diving. Personally I use it as a backup to my dive computer

I need to use it more, but I suspect that the Suunto D5 dive planner is better than the Ocean dive planner, Suunto’s brand new dive computer. 🤔
