Hello Vertical, Race, Ocean and Race S users

We will be rolling out Maps update for certain places:

        • Spain (excl. Canary Islands)
        • Finland
        • Norway (excl. Svalbard)
        • Switzerland (Updated 2024-08-22)
        • Aosta Valley in Italy (Updated 2024-08-22)
        • Rhone-Alpes in France (Updated 2024-08-22)

        Release notes:

        • Updated to the latest OpenStreetMap data
        • Elevation contour lines available up to 2-5km zoom range (depends on the location)

Feedback on the update is appreciated. Update for all places will be later this year.

You may need to restart your watch to see updated maps in your area, as previous version may be cached in watch memory

Do you have any information on whether the zoom level on the maps is also increased on the Ocean? Currently only 2 KM? On the Vertical / Race it is 20 KM…

Maps for Sweden were just updated as well.
Unfortunately everything else will arrive later.

Any estimations of when we can expect updates for Japan and New Zealand?

@pavel-samokha i cannot understand the priority from Suunto. Longer than 1 year all of US are waiting for contour lines in the Bavaria alps and tyrol … But hey suunto design a Christmas Watchface… Really?! How long to wait again? 2 years???

@GiPFELKiND it took me a few moments to get why all of the „United States“ would wait for contour lines in Bavaria 😅😅😅 - but I got it and you’re right. Are they there for other countries?

@GiPFELKiND why would you think that the watch face designers and map creators are the same people?

                                        @GiPFELKiND my boss favorite meme:

But as others mentioned, not all resources are interchangeable and some are limited

@Egika Someone decides the importance and hierarchy of priorities and allocation of resources, developers, etc. So what GiPFELKiND wrote earlier is still true.

@maszop you clearly don’t work in IT. It’s the same as if a gynecologist were to operate on an eye. Would you approve this on your eye because he has time to spare? Or would you rather wait for an ophthalmologist?
