I have followed the instructions to delete my account

When I do this and follow the link that gets emailed I get this.

I have reached out to Suunto Chat and they have asked me to uninstall the app, reinstall the app and try again. To no avail. I have asked them to delete my account as well as Sports Tracker and they said they would but the data is still showing.

Does anyone know how to make sure the accounts are deleted and data purged?

@Todd-Danielczyk Don’t know the answer to your issue, but I have a question: did you backup your data, and how? I think I would miss the map with all the traces where I have been (my own „heat map“ so to say), for example.

      Vertical All Black
Spartan Ultra Stealth Ti (with Polar H10 or Suunto Smart Sensor)
      Vector
      iOS Suunto App (beta)

@Mauerwegler backing up maps can be done through 3rd party (example would be Komoot) as I never found a way to batch save gpx files out of the Suunto app.

For example, Komoot and how you can batch import/export.

FYI the reply I have received from Suunto Support as of this morning (51 days after the request) … My ask is the following:

          Skyler/Aurora,
May I ask what is entailed in the following:

“…We will remove all of your personal data from all of our systems, except where there is a legal obligation for us to retain certain information.”

I would like to know what specific information is retained and for what legal reasons.
          Regards,
          Todd

          Hello Todd,

I hope you are doing well. Thank you for reaching out to Suunto Customer Support. My name is Skylar and we were having a conversation over the chat regarding the Suunto Account deletion request.

I request you to confirm that you have asked us to delete all the personal data stored by Suunto for this name and email: REDACTED. We will remove all of your personal data from all of our systems, except where there is a legal obligation for us to retain certain information. If we delete your data, you will no longer be able to use any Suunto services. Your data will be permanently deleted and cannot be restored. If you also want to remove all cookies used for Suunto pages and services, you need to delete temporary internet files and cookies from your browser settings. Before we proceed with the account deletion, you will need to log out of the Suunto App on your phone – otherwise your account will automatically be reactivated. Please note that:

And the response given (although not exactly correct regarding the United States law and data requests):

            Hello Todd,

I appreciate your response and I want to sincerely apologize for the delay in getting back to you. I was waiting for confirmation from our team and I am pleased to finally provide you with an update.

Similar to U.S. laws, China’s primary data access and security regulations require companies to comply with government requests for data related to national security, public order, or significant public interests. In such cases, companies are legally obligated to provide access. However, the likelihood of Suunto receiving such a request is very low, and we are committed to prioritizing strict data protection measures to ensure your privacy is safeguarded.

For instance, if a Suunto app user is involved in fraudulent activities, we are legally required to provide certain information to government officials to assist in their investigations.

I hope this information clarifies things for you. Please know that we are here to provide any further assistance you may need.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

            Best Regards,

            Aurora

currently 98 days since the original request to remove all my stored data from all of Suunto’s servers and the response from Suunto support. A request to follow the directions that were suggested back in October.
