New TSS calculation FW 2.44
-
Hello,
It is not totally clear to me if there is a new TSS calculation with the new FW release, I have the Race S Titanium and I am using the Suunto HR band.
Modifying an activity on the app yesterday, I have accidentally seen there is a TSS ZoneSense based (I used the hr bases) that I don t know if is part of the new fw release.
Do you know?
I changed the TSS from hr based to Zonesense based for an hiking and the TSS skyrocketed from 116 to 296 (all the 3:22 activity done in aerobic, strange to me…).
How is the TSS ZoneSense based calculated?
Which TSS do you think is the most accurate?Thansks!

@Antonello85 I tried Zonesense based TSS and compared it with my regulaty updated Power and Heartrate TSS. It was consistent with these two over the runs, but the great advantage is that it doesn’t need configured zones!
So now I use Zonesense TSS to adjust the power and HR zones to match the Zonesense values -
@VoiGAS thanks for the feedback.
is there a way to set-up the kind of TSS based calculation per activity tipe? Or, easier, can you set up it advance before the start of the activity? -
@Antonello85 You can set it in the App after activity and it should ask you if you want it as a default for the next one of the same type

how can we correspond witht he team responsible for the TSS calculation? i’m just using a suunto 9 nothing fancy but the calculations are waaaaaaay off, for a hard 45 mins run that leaves me dead for the day, i get a tss score of 34

@T-M This is a community forum, so you probably cannot contact any one official here.
You state the TSS calculation is way off. May I ask which one? If it is tss_hr, tss_r or tss_p it is highly probable that your zones are configured wrong.

The thing is, with the new Firmware, HR-Zones and Pacezones if configured have been reseted at least form some users.
Further, at least running defaults to TSS P even while it was TSS HR before. So figures may have changed for TSS. As said above you can change it in the app and set a default for all further activties.
On the watch, you can change the TSS Metering too when starting or pausing an activity.
So I switch to TSS ZoneSense when HR Belt is used or TSS Pace when doing Pace based workouts. If no HR Belt is used I set it to TSS HR. It changes the zones of the ring around the watch. For TSS ZoneSense you get only 3 Zones e.g. -
@Ecki-D. Why are you setting up the TSS based calculation in that way?
I think that with an HR the TSS hr based should be used, not without because the HR reading needs be very precise. Is right?
Also, why using the TSS pace based when you do easier run?
Still skeptical on the TSS zonesense bases…Thanks for helping me understand
