        @Tomas5

        I was with a RACE and I decided to shift to a VERTICAL 2 . Honestly I was a concerned by my choice because I liked a lot the crown … btu still I took the risk because I liked the idea of the red light also better lighting when white and also the batery and the bigger buttons when you do some winer sports …
        Finally I DO NOT REGRET AT ALL my choice
        The crowns is for sure a very good things but the way they designes the 3 buttons of the VERTICAL 2 … even I’m not using so much the touch screen
        I’m not sayign that if the crowne was on the VERTICAL 2 I will nto have appreciated it … but it is not so mising me at the end

          @Mister-PYC One negative thing about Vertical compared to Race is that upper button is more likely to press accidentally and pause the ongoing activity.

          In a short time of owning Vertical 2 I have already done that once.

            @sky-runner you can lock buttons during an activity to avoid that.

              Hello sky-runner, sthis what happening to me a lot of time with my 9 BARO, so I was used to lock the buttons during an exercise,

              BUT there is a bad side effect when you lock the buttons, this lock also apply to the NAVIGATION map where it should not because these buttons are not risky (in the sense that it cannot pause or stop accidentally an exercice) instead it allow to zoom
              I already suggested at the time of my RACE2 to let the zoom and scroll and eventually add a POI on teh NAVIGATION SCREEN even when teh buttons were locked

                @sky-runner I use the map screen to avoid accidental pauses or ending the activity.

                  @maszop Yes, that’s what I realized as well - either map of climb guidance.

                  But I really wish there was a “race lock” mode that disables ability to accidentally pause. In fact, I wouldn’t mind the pause as long as it acted as a rest timer - with all metrics still recording and elapsed time continuing.

                    @sky-runner Exactly – locking all buttons is often overkill. What’s missing is a less drastic option to prevent stopping or pausing the activity, but still let you use the watch normally during it – some partially locked mode.

                      This is actually a big deal for me. Accidental pausing during a race had happened to me several times, and it always stresses me out. There are two issues with that. One is that I obviously lose some stats if I don’t notice the paused state right away, with potentially minutes missing. The elapsed time gets out of sync with the race time too.

                      But another less obvious issue is that even a single pause in activity messes up Strava because that disables Strava’s moving time algorithm, and Strava no longer eliminates stopped time, which I usually rely on. The reason I use Strava’s algorithm rather than built-in auto pause is that Strava’s algorithm works way better on steep mountain terrain. So I normally never pause the watch and then let Strava remove all the stops.

                      If there was a software option to let me configure whether the lock feature locks everything vs just pausing and stopping, I’d use the latter 100% of time.
