Suunto Smart sensor smelly belt
-
To me, the smell resembles that of leather products that have been in contact with water for some time.
-
Mine smells a bit like a newly bought laptop getting hot. Do you meen that? Like flame retardant?
-
I replaced the battery in my Suunto Smart Sensor, but now the R-R intervals are unstable and the values jump up and down. I’d like to know if I did something wrong during the process.

@Alpha-156.42
Any relation to smelly belt?
This forum is like a very big mess

@Mff73 Does it really look that silly or stupid?
In this thread, I just saw users who have the same HR belt model as mine, so I was hoping someone might have experience with changing the battery.
If it came across as stupid, then I apologize. -
@Alpha-156.42
stupid maybe not, and afaics he didn’t say that
off topic for sure
what can happen is that people just skip your message because it’s OT
better search a proper thread or open a new one

@sartoric No worries. I already threw it away, including the watch. Thanks for the advice, and I wish you prosperity and success.

@Tieutieu 3 belts? For ever leg one and one for your body?

-
@Sportsfreund each last around 3 to 4 years, I open a new one every year, and use alternatively the 3 ones. Oldest for cycling. Most recent for races.
I use the strap for every running and cycling activities and some other sports, it’s around 500 hours a year so the have work to do ! -
@Tieutieu now I understand. I had two heart rate monitor straps. Both broke down after just under a year, sending completely erratic heart rate readings. I thought I was just unlucky, but it seems this is a common problem with Suunto. Currently, I’m very happy with a Polar and a Coros strap.
-
@Sportsfreund I’ve been using the Heart Rate Sensor for at least 8 years (regularly a few times a week). I haven’t replaced the sensor yet (except for the battery), the only thing I worry about is changing the strap every year or two, rinsing it with fresh water after each use, and cleaning the strap with baking soda every few months. And that’s it.
