Suunto HR Chest Strap stopped work.

@Tami999
Hello Tami999,had the same problem some days ago. Solved it in the following description (Sorry for the german screens). After choosing the chest-strab in the menu of the watch, it worked.

I got Chest Strap selected here already.

@Tami999 I have the same issue since the update when this new Bluetooth device management has been introduced. I had two straps connected and the watch had issues to connect to the right one. Only solution was to remove one and use just one at a time and whenever I start an exercise and the watch doesn’t show that the strap is connected (even though it is) I discard the exercise (go out of the Start page to “home page”) and start the exercise again - then the watch finally displays that the strap is connected. Sometimes I have to repeat the process multiple times to connect to the HR strap. It is frustrating and obviously a bug for a longer time now.

@OutdoorMan Thank You. I got only one strap, and it worked since I bought Race2 when it’s aired. Never had a problem until this week. Also havent seen any update last time so I wasn’t sure I somehow triggered bug myself or sensor is broken. Good to know.

I’ve also several strange things happening with that on my Race1. E.g. the HRM doesn’t connect in “Trail Running” but does immediately in “Running”. (yes I selected it the way it was presented in the pictures, it just didn’t connect).
This was repeatable several time in a row: Trail Running - no connection to HRM possible. Back to activity-selection, select “Running” and immediate connection. Back to Trail Running: no connection. You get the idea…Next day, next adventure:
This time I managed that the HRM and my Stryd connected in Trail Running but guess what: GPS was missing

Retried 3 times, always the same result. Again it worked in Running-mode and so I went with that mode because it was -7C and I was quite annoyed to debug my watch standing in the cold.I now really hope for a fixed firmware asap. This are only the issues before the start of the activity, the “fun” continues during the runs. Not every time but often enough that I consider the watch to be unreliable in its current state.
TL;DR before your spend any additional $ for new batteries etc. I’d wait until the new firmware is out and they hopefully found the root-cause.

@Tami999 I have similar issues from time to time. Sometimes it gets stuck trying to connect to the built-in OHR sensor even though it tells me that it has connected to the external sensor - the way I can tell is that the sensor icon is different between the OHR and the external sensor. And sometimes it completely fails to connect to the external sensor no matter what, and I have to unpair the sensor and pair it again, and that sometimes takes a few attempts like you described. The whole experience is sub-par! And if I try to use two external sensors - that works even worse!

Quick update. I somehow connected Brand new strap (with 1 YO sensor) with my Race 2. I used brand new batteries i bought with brand new Suunto Chest Strap (without sensor) from amazon. With brand new battery, my strap connected to watch. I run 1h. Next day my race2 shows that my Suunto Chest Strap shows 30% batttery! I did run, everything was fine. Next day, I couldnt pair my Race2 with Suunto Chest Strap. I took another one battery from pack (5 batteries) (brand new). Connected 100% battery status. Next day it was 40% battery left after another +/- 1h run. I took off sensor from strap, I thought maybe it takes energy when not used or something (but anyway battery should last 500h) and next day when wanted to start run battery level of strap was 30%.
A: I bought fault batteries? But I used different brand before and problem was same. I THINK ITS NOT A PROBLEM + some other people got problem with Bluetooth on Suunto watches.
B: Sensor is fault or something, or draining battery so fast ???
C : I got problem with strap since like 2 last updates. Maybe its not sensor/battery fault but software?

I think there are still severe software issues… have similar problems with Suunto belt and SV1 und SV2

Same here. Haven’t had any single problem since I bought my ambit 3 peak + belt and sensor in 2014. Since the Q3 update I have had constant problems with my V1 and Suunto belt. I even bought a brand new belt + sensor because I thought the sensor was the problem but still getting random connection problems during activity.
65€ poorer and still having issues

Thank You so much for info! Iam getting sure, its not my Suunto Chest Strap problem but software. “At least” Watch HRV itself getting better.
