      Hey @Maurice-B.-Madoff!
That sounds like a great and very doable project — you’re definitely onto something exciting. If you decide to move forward and need help with any specific part of the implementation, like handling button interactions or logging statistics to the Suunto mobile app, feel free to ask on the forum. People here are always happy to help.

        Hey,

as of now I’ve just skimmed through the documentation and examples, so yet to see if it’s possible. But here are the first three ideas that come to mind:

        1. Concept 2 PM5 integration, receive power, distance, stroke rate, speed min/500m.

        2. Bike trainer ERG mode

        3. Broadcast data, Examples: Heart rate (to Zwift) and power to bike computer (for example the assioma favoro only supports one client so if you want power on bike computer and watch this could be the way).

The last point would solve the Suunto HR belt problem where it only supports one connection so, where other bands like the H10 support two. Handy for getting data to Zwift and watch.

And how cool would it be to implement control theory with a bike trainer.

Set a target heart rate in the suunto plus app, that then adjust the trainer power via erg mode through a PI or PID loop to keep a constant HR.🙂

@peringmar HR Broadcast would be amazing, but I feel like its probably a hardware limitation

Considering how it is impossible to edit data fields while in any sport mode, it would be great to have an app that you could select 1 or more data fields and swap them inside the App. One example would be how the default hiking sport mode doesnt not show heart rate. I did a 3 hour hike the other day and had no idea what my HR was the whole time, this app would be able to be added in during the activity (like all suunto+ apps) and then you could click on it and select any data field such as avg HR or live HR and see it.

@cpinky you can any time create a custom hiking sport mode with your preferred data fields.

@cpinky Maybe, but there is an activelook app that sends data to the sportsglasses heads-up display:)

I am thinking about building a SuuntoPlus app for MTB that shows some trail-specific metrics during a ride, for example:

                    climb / descent detection

                    vertical speed and gradient

downhill segments (duration, vertical drop, max speed)

                    maybe a simple trail score

An experimental idea would also be detecting jumps / airtime.

For that I would need access to motion data.
Does the SuuntoPlus Sports App API provide access to accelerometer (or gyro) data, or only to the standard workout metrics like speed, altitude, ascent/descent, etc.?

@halajos Yup! I did that after my first hike with the watch, but you cannot do that while in an activity or even using the watch beyond the home screen. This would be for scenarios where you want to see one more datafield that you don’t have

I was thinking about a Race Strategy App.
I’m doing Trail Running where you might want to have different Speed/HR/Power for different sections of a known GPX Track.

I once saw this for Garmin i think and thought this is a great Idea to Plan the Race ahead.

I took a quick Look at the getting started section and Love how easy it seems to get started and develop. JS + HTML is such a nice combo, I’m afraid it might be too easy or limited, but when i find some time i will definitely have a deeper look on that. With Out having analyzed it now, I’m Not Sure how Well it can be fed with the Plan from an external device. Best would be the Suunto App itself 😞 (basically this is Like a combination of Route and Custom Intervall).

I know an indoor climbing app is already available, but after seeing how this works on a Garmin as a sport mode, I think it can be improved. For instance my friend was able to select the difficulty level before starting each attempt. Nothing interesting then showed on his Garmin Connect activity page, so I think a good app should also record each attempt and related details properly into Suunto App.

Thanks for allowing to develop own Suunto plus apps. I have idea for suunto plus graph app. In times of Ambit i always used one graph for HR and one for Altitude while hiking because both are intteresting for me. When i will find some free time i will look into it and if possible i will try to create simple suunto plus app that will allow to display graph for multiple values and switch between them. I didn’t study documentation yet so not sure if something like that is even possible.

I am thinking of something a bit different - still knee deep in the documentation, but I would love an app that would sync GPS co-ordinates with my DSLR camera. There are hotshoe/cabled versions, but something residing on the watch and transmitting to the camera over bluetooth to enable geotagging without needing a phone or wired gps receiver would be great.

I think the problem will be the camera side of things though, cursory search seems that protocols are all over the place.

An app where one could load Topo for a climb/via ferrata would be cool. Using the scroll wheel to rotate through either horizontal or vertical image of the climb would be super convenient.

App which would show the remaining distance/time/ascent to a scrollable list of waypoints on the route would be really useful for navigation.

Tides app, we need a widget to see the satus of tides like in other platforms.
Better definition of stress levels, resources, estimated recovery time. It would de useful showing the metrics in the widget area as percentage of basal value rather than an isolated value (TSB -17, CTL 20, what is the meaning of this?)
