[Resolved] Android app and Huawei phone compatibility

Good day.

i am aware that the the android app is still in very early beta testing phase but i would like to know if Huawei phones are getting support and if there are any tests that could confirm that they are working and syncing with the spartan watches?

most of the other companies (garmin, fitbit, etc) are not compatibily with the likes of Huawei P9 lite and syncing the phone to the watch is basically impossible.

I am in the market to purchase a suunto spartan trainer but would like to first get infor re the above before i pull the trigger.

@gerhardusvb unfortunately I do not have the tested device list with me. I’ll get back to this. My reasoning here: if one device has a Bluetooth issue in general, it is very likely that the same issue exists in similar situations, no matter what is the other device to be connected to.

@gerhardusvb I have an answer for you. The phone is not let’s say blacklisted but also it’s the worse device to sync. I would say it’s the device every developer hates. I think all services have a problem with this phone.

However, if you look at it from another point , buying or not the trainer or a Spartan won’t have the same issue with any other device ?

One tip would be to get the new app and go try a spartan on a shop.

@gerhardusvb Got this from the testing team “Huawei P9 Lite (Android 6.0) is supported, tried with Trainer and Suunto app 3.17.0, pairing OK, move synced” I hope this helps with the other tips you received for your question. Note: the Software in this quote is not the same currently shared in Google Play for beta.

@gerhardusvb unfortunately I have nothing to add in to this. That device is one we test in our manual test rounds and I hope we can get a clear table of issues here one day, still fighting to get the roadmap here.

So i bought myself a Spartan trainer and i can gladly confirm that pairing and syncing to my Huawei P9 lite(android 7.0) is working good.

it synced my move quickly and automatically to the app. notifications are also working.

i had to do one repair of the connection a couple of minutes after the sync but since then the connection seems to be stable.

i now only had it for one day but so far i am very happy.

And i do believe it is well done to SUUNTO for getting this right !!

i will give feedback again after a weeks use for anyone interested.
