Future S9 firmware wishlist summary

@freeheeler
Well actually that is not true…it also activates when you get notification…for example I was on bike, I came home I went into the shower and then I get notification about daily calories, something like “congrats you’ve done your daily target”, so my S9B has been activated and it started scrolling up and down and it also accidentally run stopwatch and it goes just crazy…and of course as I said before you can not even use stopwatch in the water so for example I can not even measure breath hold of my buddy. Therefore I would like to have option to disable the touch screen in shortcut menu like “Media controls”… this is sooo big disappointment for me and I really fighting with it -
@vio112 true, if there is a notification you can interact with the touch is enabled for few seconds. Would not be useful otherwise. If you get a system notification (one you cannot interact with), then touch is not enabled.
-
@vio112
I see… mainly with stop watch in water is a bigger issue than I thought!
and the one with the shower… it’s annoying and it gives the impression as if someone stopped racing 10m before the finish line -
Therefore guys let’s start to push up this topic please
Let’s get as many VOTES as we can get for option to enable/disable the touch screen in shortcut menu like “Media controls"Please VOTE for this bug fix

@egika That’s great. just tried it and that is the case for me. Having the watch remember that you don’t use HR was something I’ve asked for a few times so really cool to see that it’s been implemented. Nice job
Just wondering if you change anything else such as battery performance; for your next workout does it recall all of the previous settings that were applied, or is it only for HR?

@surfboomerang @isazi I might give it a go. I did use custom sports modes early when S9 was release. I remember they were all reseted after updates so I did not bother to update them after few tries. Great if this is better now.

@isazi
Its been a while since I last used it, but I am pretty sure I remember the S7 having a hotkey lock screen/button option.
Surely S9 could have the same options…I do like how Garmin have implemented theirs on the Epix/F7 - you have an option to lock touch screen and an option to lock buttons & touch screen in the control wheel, plus you can set them as hotkey and your get the option to enable/disable touchscreen for system navigation, activities and or sleep; and then you get the ability to set this for individual activities to by going into the activity and changing the default setting. i.e. I have touch off for activities, but for strength training I have gone into the activity and changed the setting for it to be on (find it easier to adjust rep count, set count etc using touch screen); and have done the same for hiking for maps, but running for example its off, and if I need touch screen for the maps I just press my hotkey combo and hey presto can now pan/zoom in maps using touch.

@jamie-bg
sounds like Garmin almost made the perfect watch, if they would have added the option to have touch enabled while buttons locked
…I know, I’m pretty demanding!
but only because S7 has a lock function, does not mean S9 will ever receive this function.
It’s too long since the first serious request for it. Simple things are normally either done soon or never -

Overall, I do not think the compromises are worth changing for. But, my opinion and others will vary. You can indeed lock the watch down. Fortunately, I did not have the accidental button press issues with the S9baro, nor do my friends that have the watch. However, I get it and think it would be good to implement.

@brad_olwin
don’t worry, a lock function only won’t drag me away from Suunto -
When we will get option to have usable maps on suunto app ios when there is no signal. I understood that this is working fine on android phone.
-
@krakra
maybe not completely offline, but it seems to cache the area of your last zoom in the map -
@freeheeler no button lock with touch free unfortunately - the only combo they missed.
-
With the last firmware update we got the SuuntoPlus Guides, which is a longtime waited function I think. The implementation is really elegant and straightforward.
For daily use I don’t allow sound just vibration, but for the Guides it would be better with sound, especially in cold or raining weather while I’m wearing jacket.
I really like to have a possibility like switch in sport mode, I can allow sound for sport mode or Guides. It would be easier then going in Shortcuts, Settings, General, Tones, General, Tones. -
@kamarasm I am totally with you. My preference is vibration only in daily mode, but vibration and sound during activity.
-
I’d still like an hourly alarm, just a simple beep would be nice
-
@jamie-bg +1 from me. I was never really looking for that feature but after recently purchasing a Wahoo Elemnt Rival that has it I can attest to it being very useful!
-
Considering that navigating downwards through the screens , one needs to go through HR screen , which is quite slow, I believe it would be of huge benefit having the option to hide that screen . In ambit times it was possible to disable screens and enable them back again . I think it Would be really great from a UX perspective to be able to disable some of them and maybe would make the device snappier

@thanasis
or to rearrange them in customized orders? -
I think introducing a new “swipe right gesture” (left to right from watch face) would be a nice features.
It would lead to customizable shortcut menu.
Mine would be:-
‘Airplain Mode’ toggle
-
‘Pair Sensor’ sub menu
-
‘Do not disturb’ Toggle
-
‘Power Saving’
-
‘Timer’
