@Fenr1r i know. Asymmetric fields for interval for watch firmware, not SA.

I think you two are both right, because in order to get structured intervals working, we would need a FW and SA upgrade. SA for the easier setting up part of the intervals and watch FW for the receiving and execution part.

@Luís-Pinto So I’m missing something: why request intervals in firmware while dismissing navigation with “No need anything else. Waypoint/POI soon we will have.”?

@fejker I gave up to SI in SA. Simple adding asymmetric values in interval option would be a solution. Simple. Just adding more variables and not just constants. Forget warm-up/cool down. It would be sufficient to program 1X500m/500m+3X750m/750m+3X3min/3min

@Luís-Pinto Yes of course, you can do the warmup+cooldown outside the structured interval as you can do it now with simple intervals. With the current solution it looks like some intern got a task of programming the interval part of the watch and never finished it.

@fejker Yes, is incomplete. Just add variables. Nothing more. And everybody would be happy. Simple as that. As Suunto likes.

@Luís-Pinto I gave up also on SI. To handle complex intervals I am setting it up on my phone and have it on the arm so that I hear tone signals. Every time I press manual lap and here they are…structured intervals in my Suunto 🙂
But interval beeps in watch firmware would be really helpful

For back light during activity…even just creating a smaller “the screen is locked” icon would work.

You could lock the watch, press any of the buttons, watch would 1) light up and 2) show you very discreetly that the screen is locked.

The lack of back light functionality (gesture driven or otherwise) is kind of crazy for a watch with only three buttons…

1 or 2 new watch faces would be great. Also maybe ability to set intervals more specific intervals down to the seconds.

Backlight during activity my only “issue” currently, I know I can long-press middle and release early to activate it but be nice to maybe use the short-press bottom button for this as I very rarely drop into options during an activity (I do though fairly often before I start it though) and maybe leave long-press bottom button for that? That’s only me though, would depend on how most people use it! Maybe even auto-light up on wrist turn?

And of course, SI. SI, SI, SI 🙂 One day?

@andrewjknox I use short press to activate backlight during activity, upper or lower button… because I always lock the watch during the workout…

About SI only adding pyramids would solve a lot of problems.

I would love to get a turn-off screen more agressively or even a setting for turning it off on normal wear.

A lot of times I like to travel, I dont care to see the time per se so I could live with a black screen if that would give me duble the juice that I bet it does.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Or even the ability to turn the watch off, without returning it to shipping mode …

A dedicated waypoint navigation screen like in Ambit3 with waypoint name, bearing, distance on route, ETE, etc etc.

@Fenr1r said in Future S9 firmware wishlist summary:

I’d buy an S9B if it had basic navigation features (albeit mapless) at least as good as the A3P or Fenix/FR. Preferably better. Full POI, waypoint, route handling.

But Suunto is trending in the opposite direction.

You can still use the MC app to do this with the SA app for now and this permits full Waypoint and POI functionality. I am using the S9B this way. By the time MC is gone we should have full support in SA. So, take advantage of the Black Friday deals if/when they come.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos It would be nice to have functionality like other smart watches, screen goes off while not using it and goes on with some arm movement. That way you can conserve battery power, but on the other way you can offer different watch faces with more color and positive look (white background and color numbers) as it won’t dry too much the battery power since it is most of the time off

@Brad_Olwin As stated above (a few times):

Well aware of the apps. The thread’s about FW for the watch. My particular insane wish is for the watch to do navigation things the A3P and the Fenix series do (minus the latter’s maps). Without having to haul out and fire up a phone that might be in a rucksack, etc.
