not stubbing your toe while going to bathroom at night can improve running performance next day
Solid Pro Tip.
But you might want to have an attachable red filter because getting solidly thumped by a partner woken by violent white light can also impede optimal performance goals.

@Fenr1r
I’d like to have a bone conducting speaker built in that guides me by voice to the bathroom that I do not need to open my eyes at all -
@TELE-HO Fascinating. Love the idea. Giving it way too much thought.
Spoken directions from the watch? All the way up your arm, shoulder and neck to your skull? Maintaining coherence through the connecting cartilage and other squishy bits? Or would a BT-paired earbud be more efficient/less likely to induce embarrassing spasms?
Relying on an immediate initial GPS lock and intra-room accuracy? I’m starting to see problems. Potentially messy ones.
-
@Fenr1r
sorry, I forgot this one: -
@TELE-HO My bad: I was having fun considering it as serious even as I assumed you were kidding. I reckon you could get a few cents on Kickstarter with the idea, tho’. PT Barnum said something to that effect.
-
@Fenr1r
absolutely!
coming from A3PS, I like basic function but am not restrictive for innovation… but a sportwatch should work within reason -

You can plot a 3D course using s9b motion sensors like a gyro from bed to bathroom and vibration motor as a ping and echo picked up from bt paired microphone on your airpods to detect unexpected objects laying on the floor so you can safely navigate trough.

It can be solved by entering general direction of your partner in settings and using motion sensor and built in compass, light can automatically dim or turn red every time you accidentally turn your watch towards your partner.
Or use bt signal strength to gradually reduce light output from backlight.

light can … turn red
Alright … I was willing to make myself into a cyber-bat but you’ve clearly crossed the line into deranged techno-fantasy here.

You are all missing the point. A long time ago in a forum far away…at the time the Ambit appeared there was one central driving request…a built in espresso maker. Now I realize how far ahead of his time the OP was! We need built in BT controls so when stumbling about in the bathroom waking up for the pre-dawn exercise the watch automatically starts the connected espresso maker. That would make my day.
-
@Brad_Olwin Truly an avant-garde demand. And you will have your espresso maker. And several years later there will still be posts wondering when the filter capability is finally due to be implemented.
Also, you’re going to be drinking that espresso with a stubbed toe … WAS IT WORTH IT?

It is a good idea! New FB algorithm that detects your heart rate ramping up as your circadian rhythm releases cortisol, a hormone that is released prior to waking up, signaling iot devices in a house to warm up kitchen, activate espresso machine, etc. 50 years ago features we use today would seem crazy and out of touch back then. But these are all possible today with wearable optical hrv monitors. This is less far fetched than LT estimation on garmin devices.
-
Please give us some new faces in the next update or open up for third party. Would make my day!

The ability to resume an activity could be nice for multi days activities
-
The possibility to add gears we are using and how many km done with this or that gear. With also the possibility to reset this counter. For instance, I’ll do a big service on my bicycle, and would like to see when I will need to plan the next one based on Km I did.
-
@darxmurf have a look at ProBikeGarage. I use for my bikes and it’s the best option I have found. I will love to have same one for runs…

-
@darxmurf also Strava has gear section if you’re interested. However I’m not sure how advanced it is as I use it only for running shoes.
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel @suzzlo yep I know those alternative tools, my idea was to stay away from it and only use tools provided by my device but it looks like there is not that much choice at the moment. As there was everything embedded with garmin, I expected to find more less the same with suunto.
-
@darxmurf it think that Suunto has a different business model than Garmin and Polar in regards to digital services. Suunto seems to invest more in integrations with external, more specialized services than relying on its own. Perhaps this is why Movescount is being replaced with mobile app which focuses more on mobility and user friendliness than graphs and advanced analytics as there are better services that can do it. There are pros and cons to such approach as is with having everything in house.
