Future S9 firmware wishlist summary

@surfboomerang yes exactly ! For the watch mode especially. I find how to do it for activities.
-
@g287-sf Ah, not possible without keeping the watch perfectly still.
Also I doubt if it would preserve a lot of battery in watch mode. -
@surfboomerang i think a bit and it will preserve the lcd screen. I don’t know if it’s good for the watch to always have something on the screen. I’ve always use classic screen it’s my first lcd
-
@surfboomerang i want to keep it on but after the sun sets. If I use backlight during 8 hour hike the whole time it will drain the battery noticebly quicker. Also when navigating in the dark/under thick tree cover it’s benefitial to have an option for prolonged backlight and not just standart 5 sec or so.
-
@дима-мельниченко by night i use a Armytek Wizzard WR flashlight who offer a red light (4 intensity) it’s pretty cool by night. I keep your watch battery and don’t kill your eyes. And red light is great for read black and white map.
-
@дима-мельниченко It is possible to enable/disable backlight during the activity by pressing the middle button a couple of seconds and adjust the backlight setting.
Not as convenient as toggle, but it works. -
@surfboomerang oh thanks, i will check it out
-
@frederic once by doing this I had between 100 and 600m to add to each ravito or in the end 2-3 km too much.
It is not very serious but it is a shame to have a very precise gps watch and to spoil everything with this defect.
it would be better to be able to stop the gps during breaks (but not the duration) -
@rob33
You can prepare a sport mode without GPS and switch sport with upper right button when in aid station and back to normal mode when out. -
@rob33 could also pause the watch at the aid station and then have fields that show you total duration which should include the paused time…

Ok, I guess I am not that “nitpicky” … yet

My wishlist:
-Automated backlight during activity or tapping the screen
-Custom data fields for sport modes or more screens to choose from. Biggest thing is now that you can’t see heart rate and what have you left in interval time/distance on same screen. -
Automated backlight during activity or tapping the screen
Already possible by changing the backlight mode to “Toggle” in the settings
you can’t see heart rate and what have you left in interval time/distance on same screen
I have a interval screen (speed) that shows those fields
-

My mistake in that:)
I have a interval screen (speed) that shows those fields
It shows how much you have gone, not what you have left.
I would like to have dispaly like Duration with heart rate, but in lowest field would have remaining distance or duration, which ever is set to target.
-
@stromdiddily Unless I’m mistaken, in my opinion, pausing stops the countdown … a suitable mode is really missing (garmin understood it )

@stromdiddily the idea is to stop the “false” distances when you are stopped. . to gain in comfort and precision
With the firmware update for the S9 I don’t see any distance added to my stops, at all! Have you tested this? -
It would be great to use the pace option to follow a rute using GPS and, at the same time, record a track and have the values of it. I think bother options are not possible. But maybe I’m wrong.
-
@ruth-benet-prats you mean ghost runner? Being able to use previous run as a base for navigation and have a bunch of UI elements on navigation view to show you where you’re at in comparison to the previous run?
-
it will be great to just have an update

Nope, doesn’t work. Need to press a button to activate screen and after that you can tap the screen to active backlight.
