Dear Suunto, rather disappointed as a long time user of both a T6C, Ambit 2R and having recently purchased an Ambit 3 Peak to discover that the full functionality, widely advertised on your website STILL, will not be available to me in the near future.

Have you actually lost your minds? Your digital footprint was/is an essential part of your product. Rather than disenfranchise this essential element of your products, why not simply freeze development and keep Movescount open? We aren’t talking about 6-7 year old products here, in fact, the Suunto Ambit 3 models are still on sale TODAY, via your outlet website.

You will lose your customer base over this. I have no issue with returning my ambit 3, demanding a refund and purchasing a Garmin. If you want to see decent customer service and support, I suggest you pop over to Bose, who have handled the recall of their faulty sleep bud product far better than the enforced move to an application rendering key device functionality unusable, not through fault or flaw, b through sheer, utter arrogance. Don’t be surprised if your satisfaction scores and market share tank.

@mbga9pgf Because it seems Suunto has stacked in total misery. I really do not understand what’s going on there and even I’m really, really loyal and patient one they really pissed me off. I’m furious. I’m quite sure only 2 developers are fighting there in total and one is unfortunately on sick leave since it is Autumn now.

Its almost as if Suunto see Suunto App as a gateway app to a premium Strava subscription… I wonder whether there are any Suunto to Strava agreements, sort of a friends with benefits thing between Suunto and Strava…

Would explain why they want to shut down Movescount and seem to be limiting functionality with Suunto App…

@mbga9pgf a good thing there are alternatives to this mess … phasing out Suunto seems like a good idea at the moment.

              Glass half full:
Well, as long as SA accepts data from my Suunto9 via BT and can be linked via API to other services to sync with them, without any further hustle…at least it’s catalysing and promoting some nice work in open source and free market^^
              (as i recently discovered)

              The other half:
The MC marketing thing is a problem though.
Isn’t this almost intentionally false marketing? (EDIT: for his case)

I don’t think so, because what I’ve seen is that MC is never mentioned on S-line products.

@TELE-HO S lines have no reference to movescount.

I am not sure @Golem what MC will become for Ambits but its going to evolve for them and there will be a roadmap

There does seem to be a lag when it comes to keeping website marketing language up to date. Movescount.com’s home page still says, “Suunto Movescount is a growing sports community . . .” front and center nearly a year after its phasing out was announced.

@ianshowalter The statement may be technically correct. MC-capable devices are still being sold and many folk like a big screen. The cliff edge may be crowded.
