Suunto app does not sync activities to movescount (web based)
-
@Fenr1r I think in theory one could do that using the SA Android / SL
Turn on offline mode sync get the SML .
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Interesting. And in Apple+PC world? Intercept the SML in the offlined PC’s file system? Does SL chuck one out to await syncing like good ol’ ML?
-
@Fenr1r it stores the SML files in a folder
/Users/myusername/Library/Application Support/Suuntolink
as zip, .gz, .json (depending on the watch)Needs to be “enabled to sync with MC”
Those files QS can parse
And theoretically you can / could pass them to any other app converted , or run QS even locally in an emulator (with some coding effort).
Long time ago I wanted my ‘raw’ data
Btw there is a tool that can pull those without the SL being installed for some more advanced users.

Accessing the file system on the watch directly? I am highly intrigued and sufficiently advanced as to tie my own laces (on a good day). Where might I find this tool?
-
@Fenr1r To clarify this I think is for ambits. For Spartans / S it is more “internal” but I am pushing to stop being so. I think it’s some opensource license involved. No clue why this is stalling but a good reminder for me.
-
@Fenr1r and I said something wrong again. It’s no FS access (the "tool"I refer to is for pulling out kinda the same files SL creates) . The folders above are where files by SL live.
For ambit opensource is https://github.com/openambitproject/openambit
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Knew that was too good to be true (for the moment). I’ve got openambit working - inelegant but effective. Hope you do get the Spartan/S version released. And, perhaps a Disable option on the App’s auto-syncing so that the more tinfoil-hatted/privacy-conscious among us don’t have to play Disconnect-The-Internet in order to extract our activities. Many thanks.
-
@Fenr1r to be honest I never understood why not this tool is not out…
One could find the same data the tool fetches (kinda as I said before) at the SL folder.Extra: Add a Java encoder bin file for FIT file conversion and voila… Server issues? Something else? … No problem…
-
Maybe, and you’d know infinitely better than I, there wasn’t really a holistic concept for replacing all the parts of the original MC. MC contained so much more that happened on the server side (vs watch and/or M/SL-equipped computer) so there was never any incentive to develop something to work on those bridge devices. The handheld GPS I mentioned, Satmap, has a little utility which does that (more or less: proprietal file-type conversion+), as well as wifi for a file-system device-server link.
Maybe there was fear of dilution of user loyalty when having to use MC would keep idle minds from wandering (shopping around for other route planners/analysis), as they might if they could extract a FIT or GPX from the start.
Maybe fear of feature & platform creep - “shouldn’t such a utility be able to control watch settings as well?” Just as SA does for the Spartan/S… why would one want to need a server connection to adjust sports modes?
Anyhow: could that Java encoder bin extract a GPX file, too, please? And whatever the hell form those POIs are stored in.
ευχαριστώ

@Fenr1r if in the SA configuration (at least on Android) you open the “Data practices” or the “Privacy policy” pages, you are redirected to the sports-tracker website, which contains the overall data and privacy policy of Amer Sports. So nothing fishy here, it’s all written there, and agreed by the users.

@isazi Fair enough. App’s not ready for me yet so I haven’t looked at that. Thanks for looking it up.

Would have checked earlier, but I went to the movies tonight
-
@isazi Well, I retract my thanks in that case. How dare you put your cultural enrichment ahead of my trivial request? Shame on you, etc.
Good film?

Good one, Parasite.
-
@isazi Cool, thanks. It’s on my list. I enjoyed Snowpiercer & The Host. Ready for something less SF from him.

@isazi great movie
