Suunto 7 - Google fit integration must be improved
-
@Brad_Olwin I miss to integrante the iPhone with s7 and suunto app. I don’t want to use google fit.
-
@isazi - Even better would be if we only had to use one app - the Suunto app and they added that level of detail to their app. Should be easy enough to include stuff like that enable people to switch on which page tabs they want via the settings page, allowning people to set up the app how they want it - just an activity analysis app, just a health app, or a full combined suite.
Adding bits like this is what I think enables Suunto to become a player in the market, as their competitors are already providing this, and I can’t see how they expect to compete if they aren’t at least matching their competitors.

My S7 does not sync the 24/7 heart rate to Google Fit any more. Only the heart rate of recorded activities is showing up in Google Fit. The daily heart rate is missing in Fit.
Here some screenshots with the gaps in the graph. The shown data are from the Skagen Falster 3 and the S7 if I recorded an activity.
The sync from S7 wear app to Google Fit is enabled. In Google Fit all permissions are given and heart rate measuring too.
Any ideas?

The sync of the heart rate to Google Fit is no longer a problem since I deactivated the all the Suunto system apps on the S7. In Fit there is a continuous graph of the heart rate.
-
The Suunto wear app syncs steps into Google Fit. I use other WearOS watches too. The synced steps of the other watches will be deleted at the moment the S7 syncs to Google Fit. It’s strange.
If I deactivate the complete Suunto system on the S7 Google Fit on the watch is counting the steps and the sync to Google works like expected. The synced steps will be added to the existing steps synced from the other watches.
Is it possible to fix this in the Suunto wear app?
-
@pilleus i would like to sync all in Suunto app, steps, sleep, heart rate… I’m not a huge fan of Google fit.
In iOS I use a shortcut to pull the data from the s7 and import it to HealthKit, I use iOS.
But I agree with you and would like a better integration of the s7, the data is there so Why don’t have it in Suunto app?
-
@Bulkan I use QS for the summary of my activities, Google Fit for activities, sleep, heart rate and steps. With the new layout Google Fit looks nice and clean and I have the daily overview on all watches (Fit tiles in WearOS).
So I can use several watches and even several apps to record an activity. I prefer Ghostracer for cycling, routes and map are integrated, ascent and barometric altitude are better than the S7 wear app and battery usage is also better.
That’s my situation.
-
And here the new layout of Google Fit. From Sunday to Thursday all steps were deleted by the S7, yesterday and today I deactivated the complete Suunto system on the S7 and the steps are summarised.
-
Updated Google Fit now is showing sleep details. Nice to have.
-
@pilleus that is a good news! But in my phone i can still see It…
-
@pilleus what app are you using to control your sleep on suunto 7 and transfer it to Google fit? It looks so nice!!
-
@tomeumb oh, it’s my other WearOS watch that records my sleep. A Skagen Falster 3 with its native sleep tracking app, called Wellness. I tried to use it on the S7, but it doesn’t install due to a missing library. And I prefer the Falster 3 during the night, because it is slim and I don’t feel the watch on my wrist.
-
@tomeumb With the heart rate track turned on on your watch in 2nd plane and in google fit set up the hours of sleep you get.
-
@Ander-Lehena did you try it?
What does Google Fit record if you are sitting on your couch from 20 to 23 h and your choosen sleep time starts at 22 h?
-
-
-
@Ander-Lehena 24/7 heart rate enabled is recording my heart rate since ages in Google Fit. And sleep tracking is different for me. The app must recognise my sleep time without any action by the user.
-
Suunto is changing the heart rate measurement of Google Fit. Means, that the 24/7 heart rate recording of Google Fit doesn’t work natively, if you want to use it by default.
I found a way to re-enable it. It’s working then as on other WearOS watches (Skagen Falster 3, Casio WSD-F21HR).
I just disabled the Suunto overlay with ADB.
The command “adb shell cmd overlay disable --user 0 com.google.android.wearable.app.overlay.salmon” does the trick. Now I have back the 24/7 graph of Google heart rate on the S7.

@pilleus are you referring re the google fit app on the watch or the phone?
