@Łukasz-Szmigiel I am not sure about that, but I can say that the chip indeed does a lot on it’s own.

Hey Guys, I just did a new run, results are much better, while still not perfect, I can live with it 🙂

I did a soft reset, updated gps via app, waited 15 minutes, then acquired the gps signal and waited additional 3-5min.
The run was tracked with GPS & Galileo.

        this one looks good.

@sartoric thank you, I agree. I will keep testing, nad hopefully the above mentioned process will not dissapoint 🙂

Also, I felt very slight singular vibrations on the watch more or less where the biggest inconsistencies are. Maybe the GPS is loosing conncetion and recconecting or something? It happens every time on this track. But there is no message being displyed

@Lukasz-Berdowski said in GPS bugs on Suunto9:

Are you navigating a route ? Could be the “off route” message

there is also the chance that the path slightly changed compared to the satellite photo as both tomtom and s9 track it on the right (the upper left section)

@Lukasz-Berdowski this looks pretty ok. You can also try glonass, its satellites have different inclination than GPS and Galileo and there are (usually) more sats available than Galileo so it may also be helpful in dense forests.

I also wonder how will the recorded path look like if you reverse directions?

@Lukasz-Berdowski what hand do you wear the watch ?

And what’s the direction of the route I see ? Clock or counter clockwise ?

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I think it’s clockwise, notice the km numbers.

Left hand and the direction is clockwise. There is no track navigation on. When I look at the menu, there is ‘breadcrumbs’ selected.
I will try to run the other direction next time, I am very curious about the result 🙂

                      @Lukasz-Berdowski or just chnage hands.

If you are doing clockwise and left hand then if you also are more close to the left part of the road (typically you ain’t you are right for clockwise eg pavement) it’s more blocked the signal.

                          Hi all,

Just to add my touch on this topic, I’m pretty happy with my Suunto 9 baro but every time we hike with my girl friend, there is between 300 and 500m of difference with my watch and her garmin forerunner, even if we start/stop our watches at the same time and follow the exact same path.

@Saketo-Nemo just realized my suunto was configured with GPS system only while the garmin uses GPS+Glonass. I changed my settings and we will try again with a quick run 🙂

@suzzlo nop, she got the forerunner 735XT, which is more a triathlon/running device, this can also play a role in the thing.

@TELE-HO distance. As the forerunner is taking it’s altitude from GPS and not baro, I would not compare them.

Okay, quick cycling test this morning with GPS+Galileo and it looks like I’m more “on the road” when looking at the map.
