Last week I could try s7 (latest version) and s9 (latest version). The s7 is way worst than s9.

      suunto 7 - 9.66km
      suunto 9 - 9.23km

more than 400m of difference in a short track is too much.

some examples zooming at the map (s7 red / s9 green)

@jorgefd78 This is one of several reasons I returned mine. GPS accuracy, even in wide open spaces, was the worst I’ve ever seen on any watch. This made all metrics useless as the jagged tracks created added 7-10% to the distance travelled. I hope they can fix this, but was unwilling to gamble $500 on it.

@Mff73 s7 in left wrist and s9 in right. I didn’t use jacket or something like that. s7 and s9 was configured by default

My own experience has been that the Suunto 7 has been on par with or better than my old Spartan Sport WHR. None of them has been perfect.

@jorgefd78 From past experience with GPS accuracy improvements on your S9, would you expect Suunto to work on improving the GPS in the S7? It is a different chipset as was the Sony chip when the S9 was released.

@Brad_Olwin the new firmware on sony gps chipset made by suunto is awesome. I know that s7 uses a different chip but seeing my recent tracks I’m wondering if Suunto is working in increase GPS accuracy on s7 or not. Because it is possible that Suunto thinks that the current GPS status of this watch is enough 🙂

@jorgefd78 Let me ask a question then, was the S9 always awesome? (Hint, it was not.). I would expect nothing less from Suunto then to have accuracy in the instruments they sell, this is certainly their heritage.

@Brad_Olwin completely agree with you. Accuray was improved in mostly s9 firmware and I want to think that the same will happen with s7. It is supposed that a s7 firmware will be coming in next weeks (read in the forum) and I was asking if it is know that an upgrade in this way is coming in this version or not, because 400+ meters in less than 10 km is much. Or not?

@jorgefd78 As you might expect NDAs prevent myself, other field testers and Dimitrios from providing information that might be asked or requested in the forums. If @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos wants to say more, he may be able to.
