      I just got on the beta bandwagon and am relatively recent to Suunto devices and Movescount platform. What I loved about them though is support for a wide range of activity types. A quick look at the new app (5932) and comparing it to the Movescount revealed the following:

      1. I really liked the ability to pick up activities I do and have them presented at the top of the list, period – end of story. Yes, there’s “Recent” and “Popular” sections. I’d imagine the former would eventually be filled with my selections, while the latter is something from across all users? From my historical workout types? Will the recent section drop activity types if I didn’t do them um… recently? How long before an activity type gets dropped? Say, I don’t scuba dive regularly, will I have to fish for that in the long list again when the time comes? All in all, I think we went from something very clear and convenient that you only had to setup once to several flavors of dynamic lists governed by rules unknown. Personally, I don’t see it as a win.

      2. Movescount had a handy Martial Arts activity type with a bad ass fist icon. Can’t see it here but I do see Combat Sport with a glove icon reused from Boxing. Is this the new mapping?

      3. I spend 3-4 hours every week training in Kyokushin Karate and use Martial Arts to keep track of classes and Boxing for my home heavy bag work. This way you can see at a glance where your time went. Any plans to bring back the old martial arts icon? Have something that’s not boxing?

        I would like some further explanation about point 1 I got a bit confused to say the truth.

        Regarding your bad ass icon, If you want I can create an issue for this and also for keeping the same name with Movescount what do you think?

            Yes, same or similar icon would be great. I also like martial arts more than combat sport personally. For a number of reasons, chief being martial arts encompass far more than just beating the hell out of a fellow human being. Not to mention that even when beating is concerned, there’s a difference between rule-based weaponless fights and things you’d actually do in combat.

            Re: my point 1. So, in the Movescount app, we select the favorite activity types. These are shown first, followed by the remainder of activity types when you add a move manually or edit it.

            In the beta app, if you select an activity type drop down, it has three sections – Recent, Popular, and All. I was asking about the purpose of these and whether people even want this complexity?

            Recent is something I did recently, right? If so, how recently? This week? Month? Year? Will activity types come and go from that sublist based on when they were last used?

            Popular shows some popular activity types. Popular among whom? Is it my historically used activity types? Is it popular among people who follow me or I follow? Is it popular on the service?

            I’m arguing for simplicity and one time setup vs multiple dynamically generated sublists…

              @suzzlo No, that would be strictly prohibited by the dojo rules and safety concerns. I do use the watch when I do heavy bag work at home as well as some technique / conditioning practice.

                    You could, leave the watch aside just hitting start and let it record as of time not movement.

                      @dimitrios-kanellopoulos Tracking time isn’t a problem, plenty of wall clocks around. In theory, I could have used heart rate monitor (that would have been awesome! I can imagine EPOC at the end!) but alas… First, still against dojo etiquette. Second, a strap heart rate might suffer grievous injuries in full contact sparring and anything you put on your arm… It’s gonna be optic, which isn’t as good, and ain’t gonna stay there. I know because I tried to sneak in a Scosche Rhythm once when shihan was out ☺

                      Actually, right now I know exactly when and how long is the class precisely because I have to remove activity tracker from my wrist. You look at the gap in heart rate and you know with a minute precision.

                              @slashas Well, potentially you have an option to do it with a heart rate monitor? And a watch safely tucked away somewhere and still pull all the goodness.

                                @nickk imagine something like stryd but for martial arts for data of kick power/speed and etc would be interesting 😄
                                Ps we would require 4 foot pods 😄

                                    @slashas You may need five. The fifth for the head 🤕 I’m wondering if hits with the head are allowed in Kyokushin 🤔 Never seen anyone do them, and it would be royally stupid to, but still… What are the relevant bylaws?
