Suunto App Maps
-
I live in an area that is rapidly, over the course of years, being developed. To this end, there are many new roads around me. However, the maps used within the Suunto App do not reflect several of the newer roads in my town. I am curious if the Suunto App base maps are updated at a regular interval or if I may choose a different base map (example, Apple Maps or Google Maps or something else)?
Thanks in advance.

As you can see by the logo on the map view, SA uses mapbox that is based on openstreetmap.
OpenStreetMap is an opensource project, so you can contribute adding streets and paths.
You can also send improvement notes to mapbox clicking on the icon in SA and send anonymous telemetry data too

@sartoric, thanks a lot. I was unaware of those items and features.

@Matthew-Robertson There is a quick video on FB Suunto 7 group (applicable to Suunto Mobile App as well) how to contibute to OpenStreetMap using your GPS tracks made with SA/ST : https://www.facebook.com/groups/166698464670122/permalink/240012320672069/ (Probably you’ll need to join the group to watch the video)

@Matthew-Robertson Happy to help (though we have to thank original author of the video). Keep in mind that it usually takes 1-2 weeks to see the changes in Suunto App.
