      It works! Well at least in local network. USB is recognized just as it was connected directly to computer. I tested with Moveslink2, but I guess there is no reason it shouldn’t work with suuntolink too.
      Now I just need to see if this can work easily from outside of my local network by itself or I need VPN connection.

          @Prenj , that’s a pretty neat approach!
          But their licencing… quite reasonably priced one time purchase (yay!), bound to server hw with no licence transfer option (nay … ). For extra $90/year subscription they also provide their own VPN, already integrated into server.

            @margusl yeah, not exactly cheap… I see now there are few alternatives too. Will check them too. Btw this VPN they are offering, I tried it but it didn’t work for some reason…

            The good thing is that there is an option to keep this mobile sync. Little more cumbersome, but OK, better then nothing.

            Suunto could just make some “sync settings” app too… Well movescount app with stripped all other options would do just that. Not to much programming needed I guess. But I guess it’s off the table already so let’s do what we can…

              @Prenj Excellent stuff.

              When you’re done checking SuuntoLink and the VPN requirement (or not) … how about trying your hand at rephrasing the spec sheet line on “Watch customization”? “Wireless/USB sync” needs a bit of an update to reflect your findings and you’ve certainly earned the honor (/chore).

              It might need a couple more words and a mention of possible additional cost. Also, for the Apple folk, isn’t iOS a bit picky on the OTG adapter front? A warning there?

              Ought to be worth at least a Suunto gift voucher for this appropriate accessory.

                @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos How can you understand that a watch that was bought with a series of functions such as synchronizing routes with the movescount application and our A3P, being able to customize sport modes in our A3P, … and now we need suuntolink, cable and pc? It is not logical that they have taken away functions that we used to have, can anyone understand it? I at least am unable to understand it.

                    This is totally irresponsible treatment by Suunto towards its customers.

                      now she ordered an S7… but her A3R is still in great condition… she just wished to have a reliable OHR 👍

                        @TELE-HO I really like my S7, but I don’t use it for long activities.

                          her longest activities will be 4-6hrs backcountry skiing 😉
                          The nice thing about S9B is that I can charge it every now and then and can do sports whenever I want and I really don’t worry about battery charge… I even don’t remember when I last charged 😉
                          But I understand why she decided for the S7. Very nice female design, usability for everyday also in the office and much more functions than her A3R.

                            Suunto has betrayed us when it does not enable the full functionality of the Ambit series in the Suunto App.

                              That’s why I decided to get rid of my Ambit 3 Peak and go for another brand. Fortunately I didn’t buy Suunto watch for my wife. After having used Ambit 3 Peak for 4 years I have to buy another watch because Suunto decided to kill it. It’s a brick now with no funcionality. Suunto? Unfortunately never again!

                                    Does anybody know: if I still have the old Movescount app on my iPhone - will the change settings via bluetooth feature still work in the future or does it use external services which will be shut down?

                                        It’s not really an opinion when people are losing the features they paid for. You could gold plate it, give it the ability to play TV and a magical fold out keyboard to write your love to Suunto on forums but if you bought it for navigation (POIs) and the apps (in the case of Ambits) then it’s essentially a brick. I get that there are people on here who love Suunto and think their products and tech does everything they need them to. And that’s great. What I’ve noticed with most of these people is an inability to see past this fandom to accept that the changes Suunto have chosen to make are not great for everyone, and in quite a number of cases completely removes the features these consumers purchased their watches based on. Unfortunately this response is not dissimilar to that which you get from Suunto when trying to get them to accept that their decisions have lost users critical functionality.

                                          I know where you coming from and have been complaining here and direct to Suunto… Suunto ignore you… And on the forum ypou get told to stop complaining by some… I use my watch for all aspects of my life,Work(am an outdoor activities instructor) and am a team leader in MRT/SAR, then personal life when I am not teaching these I climb,cave,hike, kayak,ski etc etc…the Ambit 3 meets ALL my needs and is perfect but soon I will be loosing half the functions that make it perfect… Just because Suunto don’t seem to give a damn about us.

                                            Lack of elevation profile by creating routes in MS was the last nail in Suunto’s coffin. I’m cycling and without it, AP3 is indeed a brick. Think about all people who still buy it because they read following description on the official Suunto website: route planning in Suunto Movescount.com, elevation graph - available 🙂 Suunto cheats potential customers. A non-conformity of goods with the contract 🙂
